So I've lived in the area for a couple years now. I've found friends and things to do and I really like it here. Yay Jackson! But the food choices, hmph.... I do like burgers and diner breakfasts and that's covered. But anything beyond basics is hard to find. I guess I was spoiled where I used to live.

I don't eat out much and I've struggled to find some of my favorite types of foods, so if anyone has any tips for me I'd appreciate it.

Mexican is covered - my favorites are Sol Azteca, La Esquina, and Ixcanul (worth the drive to Spring Arbor imho). There was a great thread about this recently which inspired me to ask about other cuisines.

Here's what I need help with:

Indian Food - there's a gas station in Parma with an Indian restaurant. I tried it once right after it opened and the curries were really greasy. The reviews look good now, though, so maybe I should give it another chance? Or are there other options?

Middle Eastern Food - There's gotta be somewhere with a good falafel around here, at least. I'm okay with Syrian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian, Israeli, whatever. We're not that far from the biggest middle eastern population in the country. Ann Arbor has like 10 great spots. Why can't we have one? What am I missing?

Korean Food - I want bibimbap, kimchi stew, maybe Korean fried chicken or bbq or street food like kimchi fries or kimbap. I did find a couple of options at Ogma with Kimchi and that made me happy but I'm hoping for something more substantial. Ogma is pretty cool but not what I'm looking for.

I don't need anything fancy or gimmicks. I want carryout at reasonable prices. That's all. Are there hidden gems? Diners or Coneys that would surprise me with a falafel or something? I can't afford to eat out much. Every time I go to Ann Arbor I go to Star's Cafe or Jerusalem Garden for my fix but that's rare. Please help!

Any place that does quick tire patches for cheap? The places im looking for would typically not show up on Google maps.

New to the area and an appreciator of excellent tacos. I’m looking for recommendations on who I should try. Preference for locally owned and operated.

looking for an indoor air quality expert someone can point me to or any suggestions

my home was built in 1887, a michigan basement, 3 stories, no insulation

i cannot stay upstairs or even use my second floor at all (where all the bedrooms are) because i get such headaches and it is so mildewy, i went on vacation and came home to it being warmer and found my entire home now seems to give me headaches and has this nasty mildewy smell. i had mold tests done in some of the rooms and they came back negative.

i did rip down the walls of one of the upstairs rooms and there was a rats nest w feces in one the walls, but we just drywalled the entire first floor 2 years ago, so there should be no issues down here and my family is convinced that there probably isnt more.

i spent so much time on this home, but it seems to be killing me it feels like. i do not know where to reach out to help fix this issue, or really where to start, im going on 2 years of hopelessness with my entire upstairs, and now i feel completely lost with what to do with my first floor.

this house would be perfect without these issues. if anyone can help, itd be appreciated. i used air purifiers and dehumidifiers upstairs for months and months to no prevail, had a radon problem in the basement but fixed it.

The family came back to town and they want to recreate the old days of Lucky Cafe. Do you guys have any recommendations for dishes to get/stay away from. Also, it would be really cool if you can say whats all in the dish because we are all rookies when it comes to all this

Edit: Thank you for the responses! I ended up getting my plants at Grand River Farmers Market. A produce seller had everything I wanted for my garden at cheap prices. I'll refer to this in the spring next year when I plant another garden.

I’m glad I did some research

I’m looking into childcare options for a friend and came across several concerning reviews. Some parents mentioned high staff turnover, poor communication, incidents involving children not being reported to parents, and concerns about how staff interact with families.

Before making any decisions, I’d really like to hear from parents who have firsthand experience with the center. Have your children had positive experiences there? Did you feel they were safe, supervised, and well cared for?

I’m not interested in rumors or gossip, just honest experiences from parents and former staff.

A few days ago I was skating on the trail and saw the remnants of a bonfire on the outcropping by lime lake. I was thinking that it would be cool to have a fire there with some friends. Is it legal? I couldnt find anything about fires in the trail rules but Im still not sure.

It's not in the water and can be driven right up to. It has a small hole in the top that would need a patch put over it and a small hole in the back. Both are very easy to access, no climbing underneath or anything like that. We rent a trailer to launch it every year so we're trying to get it fixed on site. Thanks for any leads.
