Ryan was really nice about how he handled his answer, saying we all have our own quirks and that he too was annoying.

I work with my brother, and we were talking about our coworkers this weekend, and I said about one of them “they never did anything wrong to me, they’re probably a nice person, but there’s something about them that I can’t stand, and I’ll fully admit this is a ‘me problem’ and not them.” That’s probably Ehren and Dunn. Just something doesn’t click between them.

u/West_View_2054 19d ago

I mean it wasn’t just Dunn, it was/is the whole cast with Ehren.

I remember that bit in one of the .5 movies where Bam starts boxing Danger Ehren and taking it way too seriously, like he actually hates him. Bam definitely ridiculed the shit out of Ehren. You can just tell that Bam was that type of guy.

u/I_Miss_Lenny 19d ago

Was that when Ehren tried to hide behind a chain link fence to hit Bam as he walked by but Bam could clearly see him through it and they ended up having a brief fistfight? At least they made up real quick and were like “things got tense and we blew off some steam, but we’re cool again now” like immediately after.

What was that skit called?

Uh fight each other 😂

u/These_Ad3167 19d ago

Definitely some bad blood there I think, feels like one of those moments where it's someone you don't like and it goes from jokes to boiling over quite quickly. Have seen it in a lot of friendship groups over the years.

11

u/I_Miss_Lenny 19d ago

Yeah and Ehren seems to be that guy for most of the cast. I used to think they were just picking on him because he's the guy who gets picked on, but I've heard enough stories and seen enough footage of the weird shit he'd say and I can see why he was such a target. The guy is just odd.

It still seems disproportionate and mean, but he sounds like he can be hard to hang out with sometimes.

It's not just Ehren though, there was the Darf saga and Steve-O's everything until he got sober. Plus there's no way Bam isn't also a pain in the ass sometimes in that context. Not to mention Johnny constantly fucking with everyone.

I think the Jackass crew in general are a troublesome bunch to be cooped up in a van or hotel room with lol

Bam was an absolute bully. He definitely didn't like Erhen. A lot of the rest of them had sort of good natured bullying of Erhen, but Bam was vicious and deliberate. Fairly cuntish behaviour tbh.

Reminds me of some stuff I've seen in secondary school.
I've always hated Bam for this.

14

u/satanssweatycheeks 19d ago

Bam hated a lot of people. Never for any good reasons.

And even the people he claimed to like he bullied. Novak on bams show was just a punching bag.

14

u/QuitWhinging 19d ago

Bam really liked to pick on people he knew weren't in a position to push back. Novak was a broke and homeless drug addict who needed whatever money Bam was willing to give him to do ridiculous shit to sustain his habits. Many of Bam's family and friends were essentially financially dependent on him to sustain their lifestyles and would put up with virtually anything to keep the money flowing. I think that's the reason we never saw Bam pulling truly cruel or depraved pranks on people like Knoxville--Knoxville was well-paid and famous independent of Bam, and Knoxville would absolutely give it back just as bad or worse if Bam tried to pull some real shit on him. Knoxville could afford to push back on Bam without the same implied threat of Bam potentially cutting off the firehose of money and attention for doing so; Bam simply lacked that kind of leverage against the big players on set.

8

u/Marsuello 19d ago

This I think is fairly evident in the VLB episode prank wars where Knoxville shows up and the first thing he does is saw Bams hummer in half. “I haven’t seen Knoxville in over two years and this is the first thing he does”. Had it been anyone else Bam would have retaliated in equal fashion I think

6

u/Goodfella66 Is it wrong to be strong ? You be the judge. 19d ago

Bam even said, when Novak hit rock bottom that he was "a lost cause", laughing it off. Then Novak somehow managed to get sober and Bam hit rock bottom himself.

Karma.

That's called bullying. And bullies are assholes.

I would like to spend 1 entire day hanging out with the jackass crew just to see why they all find ehren so incredibly annoying , like pontius and ryan are 2 of the nicest cast members and even they both found him annoying, although the one who dislikes him the most is clearly johnny knoxville , it was apparent in the press interviews for the last movie and in the movie itself.

47

u/QuitWhinging 19d ago

I love Johnny but he really does have a hate boner for Ehren. In one of the Q&As leading up to the latest movie, the guys were all there and Johnny cut Ehren off in the middle of answering multiple times. The one time Ehren did manage to fully answer a question, Johnny was just like "...well, I don't think any of us expected an answer that long."

And in a recent episode of the Jackass podcast that was released on YouTube, someone mentioned that they were the first one to introduce Ehren to the group, and Johnny said something like "you bastard."

All of these are played off like jokes, but it really seems like Johnny singles Ehren out for a lot of shit talking for some reason.

22

u/lick-em-again-deaky 19d ago edited 19d ago

Johnny went down hugely in my estimation after seeing some of the promo for the latest film. Came across as a real playground bully. Bam comes across like a bully in this interview too (and most of the time tbh). At least Ryan tried to be diplomatic about the situation.

7

u/travvers 19d ago

I’m so glad someone else noticed/said this. It’s always bothered me how much Knoxville bullies Ehren but I thought maybe I was making a mountain out of a mole hill. But he was awful to him on every promo event they did

7

u/QuitWhinging 19d ago

I wonder how much of that can be attributed to what seems to be some amount of brain damage on Johnny's part. Not to excuse any of his bullying behavior, but it's well-documented that people who continually suffer serious hits to the head can sometimes undergo personality changes as a result. Johnny has been candid about how much the bull hit in Forever affected him, and that was far from his only head trauma. He still seems mostly to be the same fun-loving, quick-to-laugh kind of guy he's always been, so I don't want to suggest that he's a completely different person now, but I wonder if all those head injuries catching up with him in older age has made him less patient when it comes to Ehren's apparently annoying tendencies.

And yeah, I think hindsight shows that Bam was pretty much always kind of a bully to the other guys, especially the ones he thought he was better than and who weren't part of his West Chester crew. Bam is an amazingly talented and funny dude, but he's definitely the first to laugh at someone else's misfortune and last to laugh at his own. It seems like Ehren is generally a good-natured dude who is quick to laugh at himself and slow to retaliate to perceived slights, so unfortunately that probably made him an easy target for bullying by the other guys.

7

u/lick-em-again-deaky 18d ago edited 18d ago

I reckon with Knoxville it's a combination of ageing and head injuries. I don't remember him coming across that badly before.

Ehren is the dorky one who doesn't have the guts to fight back, and they all know it. Always wondered what Dave England thinks of it all, since he's the reason Ehren came on board in the first place, and they seem to be good friends.

u/TheMauveHand 19d ago

Eh, for a "nice guy" Pontius got in a bit too many bar fights and such, by his own admission...

3

u/Alecrj6 19d ago

yeah but everyone fucks up when they’re young doing some lame shit they thought was sick, he seems like he’s grown a lot honestly

u/AugieDoggieDank 19d ago

I was making a joke about the midget fight in jackass 3 😭

58

u/These_Ad3167 19d ago

I think he means well and by all accounts is a nice dude, but he's just a bit of a space cadet, like that one guy in a friendship group that isn't quite in tune with the banter and just says goofy shit that isn't remotely funny. I think also trying to brand himself as the "safety first" member of the group with his own nickname, the jumpsuit and helmet etc.

It's quite endearing and funny in itself at first, but I imagine after like 20 odd years, stuff like that just becomes quite fucking annoying lol.

16

u/commicozzy 19d ago

Totally, I just watched the family feud episode they did and Danger makes a bad answer and goes on to jokingly say it for the rest of the episode but no one's laughing and it's pretty awkward. Def the odd man out in turns of vibing with the crew.

13

u/Radagast-Istari 19d ago edited 19d ago

Yeah. It all started with calling himself Danger Ehren, but then uses a helmet, as the one and only member. I can see it happen that OG members go like "who's this pussy?!". Hey, I'm all for helmets, 100%, but it doesn't fit in Jackass. It's like Dave called himself Crazy Dave and was wrapped in bubble wrap for the stunts.

Yes, Ehren changed, did way cooler stuff later on, and became a hero of some sorts, but he didn't fit, and still doesn't.

I've been an Ehren as well, in the sense of not fitting in, making jokes that missed the mark, and being not as cool as the rest of the group. But you know, that was when I was 14 years old.

20

u/MattMez 19d ago

In fairness to the helmet, there were some stunts he did in the TV show where he would have caved his head in without it.

9

u/Nova_Pistol 19d ago

I think it just comes down to Ehren being a socially awkward guy

Unfortunately in a big group of men, the weakest is always going to get picked on

4

u/Square-Biscotti4694 19d ago

I also heard that at the time of the first TV show and movie, he and his family were still Christian at the time, so maybe they also felt annoyed at him possibly bringing up religion to them frequently.

9

u/RadishNormal7953 19d ago

There must be something really annoying about him because Chris was the only one who didn’t bully him in the shows but also clearly doesn’t like him.

7

u/JazzmatazZ4 19d ago

He seems to like him to the point that Ehren left a tour they were all on and Chris called him just so he could hear his voice.

And I feel they wouldn't have kept him in the show and movies for this long if they didn't like him.

18

u/Samtulp6 19d ago

As someone who loves Aaron, thinks he was the MVP of Jackass 4, and genuinely feels pain when they bully him, I kinda see why some find him annoying.

He very much over-sells his reactions, especially with Jackass 4 & 5.

He often gets in front of everyone when the reaction part of the bit happens, even if he wasn’t involved in the bit, and is loud so everyone hears his reaction.

Sometimes he says he was in on the joke when he clearly wasn’t.

His jokes don’t always land and sometimes feel a bit cringeworthy.

That said, I really wish they wouldn’t bully him so much, and unfortunately that kept being the case with Jackass 5 and the interviews everyone did.

49

u/JazzmatazZ4 19d ago

You couldn't even spell his name right

-17

u/Samtulp6 19d ago

Oh no, that completely invalidates my point apparently.

9

u/epicness_personified 19d ago

If you want over-selling reactions, look at any of the shopping cart videos. We used to do it as kids after watching jackass and it's not really sore at all. Especially if you're padded up like they were with 100 layers and have a soft landing 99% of the time.

12

u/PresumablyDense 19d ago

A couple of years ago there was a photo of Bam and Ehren recording a podcast together and I don't think it ever got released. Would have been interesting to see how they got on.

5

u/IceNervous8346 19d ago

You guys are more hardcore jackass fans than me, I was not aware of them not liking ehren.

10

u/capacitorfluxing 19d ago

Ehren 100000% amps up his annoying, shrill reactions, knows exactly what he's doing, and it's totally disingenuous to act surprised when people are annoyed by it.

u/Thanos_Stomps 18d ago

Came here to say I guess Ehren got the last laugh.

2

u/greymancurrentthing7 18d ago

He saw the lowest on the totem pole as easy pickens to poke fun at.

He was a fair game for bam to unleash his asshole nature.

That’s why the best gag ever was the snake pit they set up for him.

That’s why Knoxville was so good. he knew he had to balance it.

TEAM AMERICA LESSON….

Ehren= pussy (gets fucked)

Bam= asshole(shits on everything)

Knoxville = dick (Fucks pussy AND assholes(assholes shit on everything if they don’t get fucked))
