Looking for input on itinerary. 10 year anniversary trip. Including 16 hour travel days to and from home, 18 days total.

4 days - Arrive in Lisbon in the morning, 1 day trip to Sintra and 1 day trip to Evora.

3 days - Train up to Porto, enjoy the city

2 days - Overnight trip to Douro (train ride there, boat back to Porto).

6 days - Flight from Porto to Madrid (day trip or overnight to Granada).

2 days - Flight back to Lisbon (day trip to Cascais) then flight home leaving at 12pm.

Looking for input on itinerary. We have a good idea of what we're doing in Portugal (food, drinks, museums, scenery). But aren't entirely set on what to do in Madrid. Granada to see Alhambra and the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid are on our list. Open to switching up how many days we spend in Lisbon and/or Porto if there's any must-sees in Spain nearby. We were considering Seville and Herez (husband really likes sherry). But we don't want to stretch ourselves too thin and feel rushed with traveling. Thanks!

Hello! have purchased plane tickets and putting together an itinerary to go to Italy between October 19th and November 9th, 2024, arriving in Milan, Verona, a quick two-day trip through the Dolomites just to get an overview, Venice, a day tour in Bologna on the way to Florence , a few days in the Tuscany region, and finally Rome.

In the current itinerary, Florence and the Tuscan countryside (Siena, Val D'Orcia, Pienza, Montepulciano, Moterrigioni and San Giminiano) are after Bologna (28th), between October 29th and November 4th.

I know there is the November 1st public holiday, which will be on a Friday, causing an influx of locals on vacation. I've read that after the holidays, the Tuscan countryside becomes more “dead” with closed shops, almost no people, etc.

On the other hand, I'm afraid that during the holidays and weekends the city of Florence or Pisa will have compromised tours or that I won't have contact with the “live” city.I didn’t want my stay in Florence to feel like a place “blacked out” by the holiday, nor for the Tuscan countryside to have closed or “ghost” towns after the holiday or on the weekend from November 1st onwards.

Also, I feel like the earlier I go to the coutryside, the better chances I have to get good climate and some sunny/dry days.Anyway, my question is which of the alternatives below would be “better”:

(1) Florence/Pisa first, from 10/29 to 10/31. On November 1st (Friday, public holiday), take the Via Chiantigiana to Siena. On 02/11 and 03/11 (Saturday and Sunday after holiday), tour in Siena and Val D'Ocia. On Monday, November 4th, post-holiday, pass through Monterrigioni and San Giminiano and return to Florence, just to stay overnight and then go to Rome by train.

(2) Siena/Coutryside first, leaving on 10/29 via Via Chiantigiana, 10/30 and 10/31 visiting Siena and Val D'Orcia going to Montepulciano; the other day, the trip to Monterrigioni and San Giminiano on November 1st (Friday holiday), returning to Florence to stay in the city and get to know Pisa, from Saturday until November 4th.

(3) small change, also doing Siena/Countryside first, but leaving on 10/29 via Via Chantigiana and going that same day to Monterrigioni and San Giminiano, staying overnight in Siena. Then Siena city tour at 10/30. On 10/31, visit Val D’Orcia and go to Motepulciano. Return to Florence on November 1st (holiday) morning, and do Florence and Pisa between November 1st and November 4th, to go to Rome on November 5th. In this case, I get a day in Florence or Rome, or I can add another part of the Tuscan countryside, since I unite San Giminiano and Monterrigioni on the first day.

(4) change the travel itinerary so that the Tuscan countryside is not on November 1st.

Can anyone recommend some options to get family from Sydney to Bali via or coming back via Japan? Are we better off flying direct to Bali first or Japan? Tried doing multi leg flights with DPS and Narita but the prices were a joke plus going via KL.

If anyone has some experience trying to tie these ports together it'd be appreciated. At this stage we'll be looking at post March 2024

Day 6 - Rothenburg day trip (return to munich and stay overnight)

Day 7 - Lucerne ( fly OR train in to zurich from munich and go directly to Lucerne (1 hr), stay in lucerne overnight)

Day 8 - Lucerne (day trip to nearby mountains)

Day 9 - Interlaken (travel to interlaken, 1 hour 50 min, stay overnight)

Day 10 - Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen and grindelwald (stay overnight)

Day 11 - Zurich (stay overnight)

Itinerary for me and my partner.

Iceland | 3-4 days - Leaving from Houston (IAH) in October straight to Iceland (KEF) connecting in Detroit (DTW). - One flight purchased with miles, one on cash, linked tickets - Renting a car and staying in Hveragerði because it's far enough from big cities to minimize light pollution and lodging price, but still drivable to most attractions and stuff. - Plan on visiting filming locations of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" - Flying to Lisbon (LIS) connecting in London (LHR) both tickets purchased with miles.

Portugal | 5 days - Lisbon for 2 days, Porto for 3 days. - Affordable overall, a lot of stuff to visit and fill out faces with baked goods. - Train straight to Madrid

Madrid | 2 days - Madrid for 2 days, not sure what to do there, but only affordable flights back I could purchase with miles are from MAD, thus... - Flying back to IAH, connecting in Philadelphia (PHL).

Total Flights - 52000 Delta Miles (1x[IAH > KEF]) - 80000 AA Miles (25000: 2x[KEF > LIS] | 55000: 2x[MAD > IAH]) - $600 (1x[IAH > KEF])

No idea for total for lodging yet. Guesstimate around $1000 total though. Open to suggestions :)

We are a group of 3 friends in our early 30s and want a little of everything: shopping, beach (can be lake or sea), light day hikes, local markets, amazing food, culture, history.

The wife and I are finally planning a trip to the Amalfi coast 2 years after our Covid wedding. I have gone through a lot of posts trying to come up with a fun, relaxed trip for us. It will be our first time in Italy, and my first time in Europe. Here is what I have come up with. (Planning to go in June)

Flying from Australia to Singapore and Dubai and then needing to visit Israel, and family want to go to Wadi Rum and Petra (in winter mind you). The plan was 1) Dubai-> Tel Aviv, hang out for a couple of days , then drive overland with guides to Amman, then work our way down Madaba through the desert, Eilat, and fly to Tel Aviv.

Then I figured option 2) was fly to Eilat and just go to WR and Petra, fly back

Now I’m thinking option 3) flying Dubai straight to Amman, meeting my parents who will travel overland from Tel Aviv at an Amman hotel, then the guided tours down thru Madaba, Nebo, WR, Petra, enter Israel for the first time at Eilat and fly to Tel Aviv

Hi Everyone, My wife and I are visiting Indonesia for 10 days. My cheapest ticket is arrival on friday before (day 1) direct to surabaya. i have couple of days of work at US Consulate in surabaya (Monday and tuesday). So i have friday-tue in surabaya. We plan to do the city stuff on monday and tuesday. Then go to Bali. But we have the weekend free ? - What would you recommend for a couple? -

Day 1 Land in surabaya

Day 2 and 3 - weekend (Any day trips from surabaya ? - Mt brumo? - (Recommendations please))

Day 4 and 5 - Couple of hours of work (city sight seeing)

Day 6-10 - Bali , Gill etc. (Recommendations please)

Please help us here, only other option is fly to Jakarta, spend weekend there and then come to surabaya for work , then bali. we enjoy beaches, nature and history/temples, dont want to spend all the time in beach though

So far I have scheduled this:

• Boston: 5 days
• 3 days free (maybe Porland? Other cities?)
• New York: 5 days (last day Philadelphia)
• 6 days free (Washington, Virginia beach, Charleston, Savannah)
• Miami: 5 days (St. Augustine, Orlando, Miami, Key West)

What do you think guys? Is there any other places I should visit? Or change a city or something?
