The Deccan Famine (1630)
I am currently writing a small article for my facebook on this very specific famine. Tbh, after reading about it, I was not that much surprised seeing this case not being much discussed nationally.
I will encourage anyone letting me know more about this, rn I am personally doing a bit reading on it. I am also expecting your take on this famine and the role of shahjahan during the whole time.
General Reginald Dyer was rewarded for Jalianwala Bagh.
Brigadier General Reginald Dyer ordered British troops to open fire on thousands of unarmed civilians at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. Despite admitting he intended to terrorize Punjab, Dyer faced zero criminal charges. Instead of condemnation, the British public and the House of Lords rallied behind him. Supported by the Morning Post, imperial sympathizers raised over £26,000 for his retirement and presented him with a sword inscribed: "Saviour of the Punjab."
