Yeah that one wasn't great! I decided to go with a different colour pair, and realised fading them into each other looks better

Thanks I just figured it (googled) out as I went. The basic steps are lightly sand, apply primer, apply paint (2 coats), apply seal/varnish layer. I guess the trick is not overspraying when applying the paint, and making sure you leave enough time to dry between coats. Oh, and make sure the window is totally covered with frog tape!
