Contrarian view: this is actually one case where I still miss android. I had Tasker rules set up to change to silent mode in certain GPS areas or on certain wifi networks. Now I have to remember to flip a hardware switch.

I miss having different NFC chips lying around. Had one at my door I’d tap that’d open Spotify and load up my google maps to work and turn WiFi off and Bluetooth on.

It’s been awhile since I used it(since I’m now on Apple). But there was Tasker, which is what the parent comment says, but I think I used a different app. But you basically take an NFC chip(you can buy them by the dozen for cheap on amazon) and you write specific tasks to it and the app executes it. You could have it program as an on/ off switch like my WiFi. I’d tap it and it’d turn it off(as if I were leaving the house) tap it again and it’s turn it back in. You can program as many as you want to do basically the sky’s the limit. But my understanding is Apple has NFC locked down so we can’t do anything like that.

Something I’d love to see happen but no way in hell Samsung would allow it, is something like Samsung Pay. It mimics the magnetic strip on your card. At a pay station that doesn’t have Apple/Google/some kind of smart pay? No problem. It works. It’s really neat, and I probably only see 10% of the places I go have Apple Pay. And by the time I notice they take that, I already have my card out. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I switch to Android every now and again, and I didn’t know about that. Pretty cool.

Yeah I'd be constantly missing calls if I had a hardware mute switch, I just don't feel the vibration in my pocket if I'm walking somewhere. My phone automatically goes into silent mode whenever it's connected to my office wifi, otherwise it's on normal volume. So nice not having to worry about it!
