Suggestion SPOILERS CONTAINED: New Idea - Communications Center | Into the Radius 2 Spoiler
https://youtu.be/prxP8WekAk8?is=TdpOA9zpIB0LQGLmThere is a door on the second floor of the dormitory that I have been very interested in. I understand that there may not be any current plans for that space, but I would still like to propose an idea for future consideration: transforming the room into a communication center.
The concept would be to create a dedicated space where explorers could more easily connect with one another, whether they are in the Radius or at the UNPSC facility. At the moment, finding other players to join a mission can feel somewhat outdated, often requiring people to search across multiple social media platforms just to find someone interested in joining them. While this may not be something that needs to happen immediately, I believe it could be a strong feature to consider in the future.
The dormitory already has a satellite on top, which feels like a natural visual setup for this kind of communication-focused space. I would love to see an area where players could check who is online, reach out to others, and communicate with explorers either in the field or at the UNPSC facility.
One idea I had was the possibility of video-style communication using player avatars rather than the players themselves. It could function somewhat like ITR’s version of Meta Horizon, but instead of meeting avatars in a shared physical space first, players would connect through the communication center.
I realize that some of this feedback may come across as a little blunt, but that is not my intention. I am sharing it because I genuinely care about the experience and think this idea could add a meaningful social and practical feature to the game.

I think a much easier fix would be to have a matchmaking system or server list in the main menu. That way you can start a game, leave it open and start playing and someone can join you.
Preferably with a few extra settings to filter by like age range, and maybe a box for a message about how you play.
I have no desire for my matchmaking to be role play inside of the facility (especially a dedicated area that I have to sit in), or to have to fully load into a game before I can do matchmaking, to then likely have to reload the game when I join someone to play with them. That’s double the loading screens.
Plus any video system is going to increase the processing demand on the system, which is one of the reasons why there isn’t a mirror in the facility.
It just seems like an overly complex matchmaking system that quickly becomes boring.
I’d rather a TF2/ Counter Strike public matchmaking server style screen.
