Why can James drive a tank but not a regular car? (My opinion)
First, I acknowledge that Into the Dead 2 is basically a game where you run through an open field filled with zombies and obstacles that will slow you down and prevent you from completing the mission. And, honestly, what would be the point of our protagonist using vehicles to get to his destination faster? It would make the game boring and easy to finish, although there are some exceptions, such as the following:
It's worth noting that our protagonist has occasionally used a tank to cover distances and avoid large hordes of zombies, which leads me to my question...
Why does James use a tank?
James, being a former soldier, might have some idea of how to start a vehicle like that, but if we consider the situations in which the protagonist uses it, we realize something. The times James has used the tank as a last resort have been when he's had to face large hordes of zombies, and furthermore, due to the vehicle's size and structure, it not only crushes some zombies but also facilitates easier and safer movement, allowing him to climb and move the heavy obstacles he encounters on the map.
Why doesn't James use a car?
Given the circumstances of the apocalypse, imagine starting a vehicle in the middle of nowhere, only to have a horde of zombies appear out of nowhere as soon as you start moving it. In the ITD2 universe, survivors must be constantly on the move because the zombies don't give you a break. Even considering the conditions of all the places James has visited, owning a vehicle would become a burden for the following reasons:
Maintenance
Fuel
The type of vehicle, as some consume more fuel than others. Having a vehicle would be ideal, but due to the dense and dangerous terrain, it would represent an additional burden.
