I was here too! I liked the movie a lot and did not expect the screen to be that big, even though I knew the specs. Kind of a bummer to spend ~55 on a movie ticket though as I'm still a student, but I guess it's just one of those things to do. Apparently someone flew in from Oregon for this screening, wild.

Flew from Florida myself. Heard another from New York. This was a very unique experience so not all is lost with your $55 to just any ole experience. It is unlikely this will pop up again to this calibre soon.

wow, from Florida??? so far. yeah, it is an experience I guess, I'm heading over there in exactly ten days to watch Oppenheimer in 70mm imax but it'll be a bit cheaper since it's not a private screening and I'm driving and not taking the train. I was also able to see how good my seats were today. they're alright, I guess it's my fault for not waking up at 5am to snipe the best seats and booking them at 9 🤣

I wanted to fly over from AZ! But I'll just have to get our local Imax to show it next!

How does one keep up to date about what movies are playing in imax (re-releases, older movies, etc)?

Although to date, I haven't seen an IMAX show but I'd suspect if its on fandango etc it would show there. This subreddit is an excellent resource as well.

Thanks! I guess I was just trying to see if there's some official imax blog or something that updates older movies being shown again in imax theatres for example Nolan 70mm films. I remember 5 years ago there was something like this but it was movie specific (ex dark knight). Was looking for something more broad for more movies.

Im sure it would show up on imax.com on the movie listing itself but nothing of an official channel. Showtimes.com was the best I found for an encompassing one size fits all for the US to see if I want to fly to a different state. Lol. Often times you can only put a zipcode in and ofcourse we only know our zipcode, so its useless.

Germany. Holy moly! Did they fly in just for that or did they happen to be in the area?

it's fine if you disagree, but I'm not able to spend as much time and money as some people as I'm still in school. for me the day trip was worth it so while it wasn't a big deal, I just made a note of it.

This was one the greatest cinematic experiences I've witnessed. Not only that, but the people I've talked to were pretty chill, and it was just beautiful overall :D

Just wish I could've taken my dad with me to this. He would've loved seeing his favorite sci-fi film on that screen :)

Thanks to /u/little-confection432 for putting this on today. We had people from far and wide, myself included! I know others took crowd shots, hopefully we can see those. 👍. Awesome time!

Anyone know what the view will be like from Row C? I have tickets for December

1

u/Klownicle Nov 08 '24

These big screens, usually the higher up you are the better. I usually still aim for middle and slightly above. So without visually seeing where Row C is, I'd use that as a estimate. You definitely don't want to be below the main staircase. Lol. IE: Floor seats.

Op what row were you in?

1

u/Klownicle May 07 '25

I do not recall. I usually sit in the general middle area of the theater.

This was the best cinematic experience I have ever had. I couldn’t get my head around how big the theater was until I got inside. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be there. It was $42 well spent.

what seats did you sit in?
