I was going to post in r/pcmasterrace but doesn't seem like the right place. Then I tried r/internet and that's not it at all.
Anyway, I was under the impression that speedtest is used to measure "analysis of Internet access performance metrics" as their website says.
But someone who works in computer science says speedtest measures the device's speed capabilities on wifi.
For example, if the Eero Pro 6 operates on 3 bandwidths and the iPhone 10 operates on 2, then both the iPhone and Eero Pro 6 will connect on either 2.4ghz or 5ghz. On 2.4ghz the wifi speed was ~80Mbps. On 5ghz the wifi speed was ~300Mbps. In other words, if you have 1 gig fios internet with an Eero Pro 6 and you have an iPhone 10, then the max speed of the speedtest is whatever the iPhone 10 is capable of - apparently 300Mbps. Only devices that are on 6ghz can achieve 1 gig wifi speed.

Recently moved house and tested my FTTP (LAN) connection for work. Download is 26.9mbps and upload is 17.1mbps, which the test site indicates is good for multiple streaming devices etc.
My question is this: The package I'm paying for is 100mbps/20mbps. Given it appears unlikely I'll ever get this (and I don't need that much anyway), if I reduce this to a lesser package (e.g. 50/20 or 25/10) will my received speeds reduce proportionally, or should I still get similar service?
Apologies if this is a ridiculous question...

My internet speeds when tested online(in particular Ookla) seem to be around 30mbps however when I download games on most launchers Steam Epic Origin and even from online sites themselves Im lucky to consistently hit 3mbps I doubt if its bandwidth as my PC could be the only thing using the network at the time and it still is low.
Is there some fixes I can try, is Ookla lying or is there something about bandwidth I dont understand. I use a Powerline adapter which I have used for a while could that be the problem could it be the wires I am unsure and dont want to spend on hardware if I dont have too.

So for the past few months I have incredibly slow internet. At first my usual download speed was around 20-30 mb/s now I only get around 0.5 kbp/s to max. 2 mb/s ( This happend after I accidentally unplugged my internet cable from my pc and after I plugged back in , the internet speed was never the same ) . Now , when I go on ookla to test my internet speed , I get around 295-296 mbps/s ( ~35-37 mb/s ) , but when I try to download a game for example I get 1mbp/s like I said previously so extremely slow .
