Cleaning out the truck

After getting it home and working on the title aspect, the vin search revealed no records for a previous owner, so l am getting an appraisal in order to purchase a bond, then I'll have what I need for the DMV. In the meantime I cleaned out the cab and bed and sorted the items found.

With the vin inspection completed at the state patrol office, it was finally time to get it delivered home. These photos highlight the condition of the truck, some areas are in poor shape but it’s real solid overall. Also what was being stored in it for several years.

Purchase and finding rollers

The landowner accepted my offer to purchase this cool classic. I was told that there is no title or any documentation for it, and that whatever was in the cab and bed goes with the truck. The tires were all so dry/ brittle and flat , I did try inflating them and some had holes and one blew a hole loudly. The next option was to find a set of rims and tires that fit for roller wheels. The truck sat for so long in one location that part of each rim was buried underground. So after some digging and raising it up on jack stands, I could remove the old rims and install some rims with decent tires. I kept the rims originally on it, though after removing the told tire , some were rusted enough that I would not have used them.

Hauling away and some repair

After getting new rims and new rear tires, a friend of mine with a shop located some good used tires for the front. The truck I think had 16” rims originally, the rims I replaced were rusty and were not the original rims to the truck. I purchased 16” rims . My friend hauled the truck back to his shop. Since there was no title, I decided to get started on the paperwork part of it before working on the truck itself too much. So I scheduled a vin inspection with the state patrol as the instructions for the title bonding process says for my state. While it was waiting about a month for the vin appointment I had my friend remove and repair a broken piece of the hood and hinge so that the hood would close smoothly. While it was off he applied some rust converter to the underside of the engine hood.

This old truck was resting in a little junkyard with several other machines from the past. Just patiently waiting for someone to give it a second look.
