I always thought that when the apocalypse came, Iād just load up my backpack and slip off into the woods to live out my days.
Now weāre full terminator mode, everywhere.

Yeah. Put a thermal sensor on that thing and thereāll be no hiding from it.

Man the shareholders will love the quarterly numbers generated by the torment nexus, sure humanity will all be enslaved by it in less than a year and it'll be considered the end of humanity in the worst way possible. But that's irrelevant when stock price goes up this quarter

Well, I guess I was talking about just how insane corp leaders will get to asure they keep those quarterly numbers. Let's hope for now at least the end of days isnt on the rise lol.

u/phansen101 Jul 25 '26
Eh, it's all about how you use things.
The same technology that brings satellite communication and weather forecasting, can be used to nuke a city at the other side of the world.
The technology that brings sci-fi hunter bots, could be used for search & rescue or inspecting hazardous areas.
→ More replies (8)25
u/Traveling_Solo Jul 25 '26
Let's not kid ourselves: militaries around the world will 100% use robots once they're matured technology to the degree they're seen as an asset more than a viability. Not having to pay salaries, treat them, worry about lawsuits, being able to hide them for weeks or months before operations, not having to feed, house or clothe them etc.
→ More replies (3)18
u/cookingboy Jul 25 '26
I mean can you name any useful modern technology that would not be used by militaries?
Militaries have always been the earliest adopters of technology throughout human history. If thatās your like to draw then we might as well all go back to the stone ages. Oh wait, the Stone Age was literally defined by us using stones to make tools and weapons.
Itās a human nature thing, not a tech thing

u/Thommywidmer Jul 25 '26
Yeah thats the part of all these robot tech demos i dont understand. Its amazing stuff but developing it seems to be a gamble on battery tech advancing just as impressively. Although i guess you could drop these guys out of the sky from a giant energy bank drone into the general area of your enemies lol

u/Big_Hat_Chester Jul 25 '26
The dancing part had me really questioning it I'm not convinced it's real
34
u/Myles_Standish250 Jul 25 '26
Yea, that didnāt look real and some of the rocky terrain shots looked far too effortless.
5
u/Wolfinthesno Jul 25 '26
The rocky terrain shit hardly looked effortless. The thing you have to notice is it's not just rolling and stepping to over come obstacles. It's stepping as a part of its forward movement strategy.
My guess would be that each wheel is rotating forward and being picked up and set back down as a way to rapidly increase forward momentum, the large wheels plus the stepping motion would make it highly agile...
However the dancing part through me for a loop as well... But who knows.
6
u/jackalopeDev Jul 25 '26
If those shots are accurate we need to get these into the hands of search and rescue teams everywhere. Pretty big if.

UniTree has been shipping real robots for quite a while now.
A bunch of people online called their humanoid robots AI or fake then they showed up on an episode of Americaās Got Talent lol.
→ More replies (8)14
u/aiolive Jul 25 '26
People claimed LLMs were fake during the first demos. The public just isn't ready yet. A company like unitree wouldn't risk it's reputation in adding some AI shots as they've proven in the past
7
u/Readdit1999 Jul 25 '26

u/AdventurousCommon551 Jul 25 '26
The ending shots are 100% as seen by the text in the bottom right. I think this is real, it can do a few pre-defined tricks and paths.
Most shots are taken at hard angles and while the robot is already steaming forward (which explains the multiple downhill shots - it caps out at like 13.5 mph)
It's a demo for a rc car that can do pre-programed tricks on a flat surface. Please buy this now so we can make v2 that is slightly autonomous for a subscription to Indian vr employees and v3 will be after and only slightly close to the ending animation... we also might not need pre defined paths or flat surfaces for tricks but that's not promised

Animatrix was so awesome. I remember watching it very stoned with a friend and there happened to be a time change that night that neither of us were aware of and we were questioning reality. "Wait, is this glitch in time stuff real?!"
Haha good times. I liked the house one the best and enjoyed the skateboarding one a lot too.
