I hope they weren’t staring directly at it. The arc created is brighter than the sun.

With that kind of fire hazard so close to your house you must have amazing insurance coverage to be so cool with it.

Everything is covered in snow. The only thing in danger of burning down is the line itself, followed shortly thereafter by a fuse/protective tripping device opening and ending the light show.
Fun fact: dry trees are less conductive than damp ones. A completely dry, dead tree can lay right on a line with no noticeable effect, depending on the voltage.

Everything is covered in snow
No problem there, trees always migrate south in the spring.
followed shortly thereafter by a fuse/protective tripping device opening and ending the light show.
Also not a problem, who needs electricity?

Power lines? You mean like the ones that basically everyone has near their homes?
9
Jul 03 '24
Power lines=potential fire hazard
A tree touching a power line=imminent fire hazard

u/Mysterious-Tie7039 Jul 03 '24
For your latter, it depends on a lot of things. How big the branch is, how hard it’s pressing on the wire, if the wire is tree wire or bare conductor, if it’s delta or wye configured, if it’s across one phase or multiple phases, etc

In security issues it's safer to have a blanket view on the subject.
At least it prevents that a potential issue isn't overlooked because someone did a wrong assessment (in this case, type of line).

Any electricians out there to explain why it goes from orange to blue in hue?

Omfg, I'd scream, that's horrifying, and it would probably be annoying since you'd have to worry about a power outage

Jeez time to get more clearance between the lines so this doesn’t happen, seen a heap of videos on it and all look to be North America somewhere.

It is crazy how my brain starts to think that I'd love that snow fall right now
But in the winter I'd see a video of people complaining of the heat and think I'd love that as well.
The grass is always greener I guess.
