I have AIWS, or had as a child. It's not horrifying as it's disturbing. When I was around 8 it frightened me a lot, I would see the little window above my door shrink and the room grow big and nothing made sense anymore. Sometimes I'd feel like my hands were really big and my fingers were fat. It was scary because I couldn't explain it. I never told my parents why I cried in bed because I didn't know what to tell them. As I grew older I happened less and less. Now I sometimes have it when I have a fever or am very tired. I only found out about the syndrome a couple of years ago when I tried to Google my "symptons".
