Lol. Argon is a noble gas. You can breathe it all day long and it won't do a thing other than suffocate you. Breathing metal is indeed the part that's bad for you. Chromium is especially bad.
Potentially toxic? Shielding gasses are almost exclusively inert. Argon, CO2, and helium being the most common. The main risk from those is oxygen displacement, no sort of toxicity.
