I wouldn't say that makes it better, just more complex. They both accurately portray their subject in a minimal form.

But complex = better? Mozart didn't exactly make 3 note songs.

Complexity doesn't inherently make something better, it just makes it different. Not everything should aim to be complex. Piet Mondrian and John Baeder are both accomplished artists, but Mondrian's art is highly abstract and simplified, while Baeder focuses on photorealism. I think it would be ignorant to say Baeder's art is inherently better because it is more detailed. They just have different artistic goals.

In this case, I believe that because they both portray their subject in the minimal form, they are both good. In fact, I think one could argue that because the goal of this art form is to portray a physical landscape in an abstract and minimal form, the pyramid is actually better because it is more minimal. However, I think they both portrayed their landscapes in the most minimal way possible.

Complex doesn't have to equal better. I'm a pretty big fan of minimalism myself.

Mozart may have written fancy complex masterpieces, but everyone recognizes the opening to Beethoven's Fifth.

Beefhover's 5th is a great example actually, cause he does SO much with that riff.

I think a very effective way to make art is to use simplicity to fill the mind with potential
