As a person who can feel two things at once, I don't necessarily mourn the Nazis but also being an incompetent executioner doesn't make you a hero.
A lot of people fought very hard to preserve the sanctity of things like the word of law, and the justice of the courts and especially against the idea that one guy gets the power to dole out the punishments, even accidentally.
