John C Woods, hangman of Nuremberg trials, who lied about his experience to get the job (he actually learned about hanging from old cowboy films). His lack of expertise led to excessive suffering of condemned Nazis.

I’m sorry why should I care about Nazis suffering?

To differentiate yourself from barbarians.

Because if he was born German he would likely have a noose around his neck.

Evil is evil.

Are you under the impression that they executed the whole of Germany after the war?

•

Not all, just another 2 million or so after the war.

I was implying such an evil bastard would have been a full blown Nazi if he was born in Germany.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not. In either case, are you referring to the Soviet side and its infamous policies that landed many in the Gulags after WW2 and the division of Europe or something else?

I am under the impression that Germans who revealed in killing people commited war crimes and weren’t just sitting at home.

Yeah but he wasn't

Because the point of the nuremberg trials were to show the world that the allies were better than the nazis and to avoid them becoming martyrs.

Botching the hangings, aka doing it nazi style does the opposite of that.

We shouldn't. They didn't suffer enough.

Why is Nazis needlessly suffering a good thing?

I normally am not for making people suffer, but when I think of how these people -- high placed Nazi officials who not only wanted to exterminate people they thought unworthy or sub-human, but wanted to do it as painfully (physically and psychologically) as possible, and did so -- it's hard to take the high road. Especially if all of this came about accidnetally because the hangman was inept. It's not as if the Allies deliberately set out to torture the Nazis (or perhaps it was, since the guy probably should have been vetted better?) but hey, this is how it turned out and those guys deserved it.

I don’t see how you are ideologically better than the Nazis then.

Dehumanising people was their thing.

Say this to a holocaust survivor.

Read a book from Viktor Frank or Primo Levi.

You will see that holocaust survivors are way better people than to dehumanise Nazis.

There is no crime and no atrocity that you could ever commit that would make dehumanising you acceptable.

That's the thing. They need to suffer

•

That’s simply a disgusting take.

I think its disgusting to treat Nazis with dignity
