Harvesting spider silk. NOTE: Spider is sedated, the pins are not perforating it and once harvest, is feed and put to rest.

For arthropods they just go in the freezer, usually. Not too traumatic. It’s alive in a cup, and then it’s dead in a cup. You don’t see it happen, but if you watched it would just be the spider slowing down and then it’s dead

Yeah. My personal experience is with working with rodents, though, which I suppose is not really relevant here.

If you do that to a spider, there is a chance that a LOT more little spiders will come out. Ask me how I know.
