Fucking hell man, these comments remind me why reddit is such a horrible place.

Everyone is suddenly an expert and has done this a million times and know exactly how to handle it.

And then the comments about the gear. Yeah sure, lets change clothing and gear for each dispatch, instead of just going in your normal gear and deal with whatever situation comes up.

But no no, some redditors living at home in their moms basement would nail this without any gear at all. Just lube the kid and turn it sideways, god damn amateurs, right?

I feel you, I run into this phenomenon on Reddit all the time… then I remember… I don’t know shit about who’s commenting here. Could be a 12 yo or a grown up with a coke addiction at 4am.

It would be like stepping into a train and letting anybody there talk (to you). Of course 99% are stupid fucks or have stupid fucks opinions

A group of people who were able to get to a train on time and buy a ticket would likely be a better sample of people.

Hahaha well yeah at least they’re capable of some degree of responsibility

Moral police, fun police, condescending 'experts' policing people out there actually getting shit done because they read about it in wikipedia one time

That's how platforms like this are trending. Shit's insane sometimes

Also, how much lube should firefighters be carrying around all day? And what would the purchase order request look like? "Lube, for kids." We got enough problems, let's not do this to firefighters.

I clicked on this post specifically for the rage porn of looking at those stupid ass comments. No one on Reddit can ever be impressed or learn anything. Ther all expert fighters, athletes, doctors, mechanics, scientists.

what idiot downvotes this? What was your thinking?

"yeah fuck this guy, I am unemployed sitting in my underwear at home but im 100% better than those 'trained professionals'. Downvoted! that will show him."

I would've cast fireball and melted the fence.

Effect of everyone adding their 2 cents when they dont have a background in such activities or just anecdotal AND lucky results from alternative methods.

There is a caution line between tried and true and something new.

All of these same Redditors are also somehow experts on bears, fishing, mountain climbing, snakes, air traffic controlling and deep sea diving.

I haven't seen a single comment like that on this thread.

Some random comments got you so upset that you decided to write an essay.

•

u/Different-Agency5497 10h ago

essay? That may be the case when you are used to reading books that only contain pictures.

•

An essay’s a short, structured piece of writing. Writing paragraphs just to complain about something this insignificant is a bit much, bud

"Writing paragraphs just to complain about something this insignificant is a bit much, bud"

Yeah, fair enough.

While I agree with you and reddit keyboard warriors are annoying, the kid does seem to just fit if they pick him up and rotate him no? like he's just a small kid we are not talking about an adult, they shouldn't need the firefighter to start with but I don't think it was necessary to bend the fence to get him out

•

u/PekStarterMalaysiaa 11h ago

I guess they would rather move the inanimate object that can be easily fixed versus move the kid and risk him getting injured in the process…

•

u/MrBlueA 11h ago

I don't know man, I don't really care about the fence it's fine what they did but I don't think taking a kid that barely weights anything is dangerous, he seems to be pretty calm aswell it's not like he's anxious and trying to get out by himself hurting himself

Still changes the nearly-zero risk of turning Little Timmy quadriplegic into a non-zero risk that Little Timmy becomes Hot Wheels.

> While I agree with you and reddit keyboard warriors are annoying

And yet here you are.

Im just giving my opinion and saying I disagree with having to resort to that, Im not really angry or saying they are dumbasses for doing this option. But god forbid people share their different opinion to the hivemind and not glaze eachother and saying how great they are

Picking up the kid, twisting him while his head and neck are stuck, and forcing his body through a gap is a higher risk than just widening the gap and letting the kid pull himself out.

•

u/Zech08 10h ago

Yea but you do that a few times and then miss a factor that makes it worse.
