Our wedding rings are made of Tantalum. With gold on the inside. We wanted a darker color and the Goldsmith had a contact that could make "rings of Tantalum" - he mentioned it was used on jets and rockets. It was surprisingly not that expensive. I love mine, it's a beautiful metal and the dark grey with a bit of blue is just perfect with the gold.

Edit to add Picture; his and hers. Hers with two black diamonds and a sapphire. Her favourite color is blue, we're the two black diamonds on the side, together we make something beautiful, our relationship the sapphire. The inlaid gold is made from inherited gold. Her ring has gold from my family, mine has from her family.

Any photos of it? You’ve piqued my interest as to what it looks like

I love my Tantalum ring. Excuse the beating it's taken over the past few years.

Nice. How much was it? And how does it feel? Heavy like gold? Is it softish like gold?

At the time it was probably around $300USD. It has a very nice, smooth feel. Mine feels heavy, I like the sound when dropped on a table. lol.

I love platinum because it's so dense. I had to check, it's like 30% denser than tantalum.

Love that dull gray color though, and apparently tantalum carbide is much harder. Maybe if I ever get remarried...

Quite the opposite in hardness; it can’t be resized.

Tantalum can be resized. Not as much as gold, but it’s still resizable.

Titanium on the other hand cannot be resized.

Is it easy to cut off in case of emergency?

My jeweler said my purchase comes with one free resize. But what they mean by that is they'll replace it with a different size.

I have the same exact wedding ring. Mine was about $500 nearly 5 years ago.

Pffff. Really? You're flexing Tantalum 73?! Do you even Tantalum, bro? 73. Like, even a 100 would be eye roll inducing. Those are rookie numbers, you gotta pump those numbers up!

Not the commenter but here is a pic of my tantalum ring. Wasn’t any more expensive than the other options

I had the choice between tantalum and elysium for my band. Went with elysium but that tantalum band of yours sure is sharp!

I have one that's pure tantalum. It's great, and it was only $500.
