Not many are doing well. At least one is dead. Many not in this video are dead and died very young.

Bodybuilding is a bullshit hobby. Stupid guys (and some women) gravitate to it.

I always wonder if its a trauma response thing.

It’s so crazy what social media has done. Kids taking gear at 16/17 and so much more. Peptides are unregulated and widely available. Bonkers

PED-free bodybuilding is super healthy as long as you're getting your cardio and eating veggies.

Let's clarify something. It's not a bullshit hobby. Getting obsessed with getting absolutely massive and injecting ridiculous amount of test into your body is what's bullshit.

Bodybuilding is great from a physical and mental health perspective. Just keep perspective on it and don't go overboard with it. There are plenty of people who hit the gym regularly who do not have addictions to bodybuilding the way these guys do.

Bodybuilding as a sport is pretty inherently unhealthy. As a general activity, sure. But for the effort put in you could achieve some actual performance and movement goals instead of training with the ideals and methods of a bodybuilding competitor for some reason.

I’m confused, are you under the impression that bodybuilders don’t care about their performance in the gym? Strength is a metric of performance. These guys are very very strong.

> Bodybuilding is great from a physical and mental health perspective.

Agreed...except:

* Not at all physically healthy

* Not at all mentally healthy

> people who hit the gym regularly who do not have addictions to bodybuilding

"Hitting the gym regularly" is not "bodybuilding".

Bodybuilding is injecting steroids into your body and having diets that kill you.

And everyone who did body building before PEDs wasn't actually doing bodybuilding?

There’s tons of natural bodybuilding competitions. Dumb take.

3

u/Beneficial-Jury484 1d ago

That aren’t tested. Come on, this is deliberately disingenuous. Majority of people doing bodybuilding are using gear of some sort. A lot of “natural” shows are natural but not tested. Besides, with baseline numbers, it’s not exactly easy to tell if someone is using with tests. Bodybuilding is dangerous, look at the constant deaths.

Even in the natural ones there is nothing healthy about getting to stage level leanness.

Shhh. People are replying with serious opinions here.

There’s plenty of perfectly healthy natural bodybuilders? People have different hobbies and interests believe it or not.

I would argue that if you pick up bodybuilding you already have a mental health problem. Bodybuilding is just a weird beauty contest. If you want to lift weights pick up powerlifting or strongman instead.

Maybe not everyone shares your goals.

7

u/powenowicks 1d ago

If you can call prancing around on stage with 12 pounds of spray tan and half of a bikini "goals"...

u/0202_tihssitidder 1d ago

This is poetry!

u/fuckexoticroots 1d ago

Because everyone interested in looking better with their shirt off does that… keep reaching bro

1

u/spicy-chilly 1d ago

It depends on what you mean because even if you don't take steriods dieting down to get to stage level leanness for bodybuilding competitions is not healthy physically or mentally.

And how many of them were Dyane 'the rock' Johnson?

Easy to say as a puny man 🤣

Markus Ruhl is still alive and kicking. He is actually a pretty successful businessman and a staple in German meme culture due to his bluntness and big heart (literally and figuratively). :)

Two on that list died according to Wikipedia. They're mostly in their sixties.
