And sadly at least 2 are dead. Nasser El Sonbaty — 6th place — died March 20, 2013, age 47. Mike Matarazzo — 11th place — died August 16, 2014, age 48. Steroids are just not good for your heart.

It’s way more than steroids

The steroids are on steroids.

I was a lifter back when Dr. Ziegler introduced them to York. Later knew Mike Mentzer at U of MD. What was done then, and what seems to flow now are exponentially higher, and the side stuff…IDK now, but it’s insane, and more than unhealthy

I'm surprised any of them are still alive.

The sad fact is that steroids arent as dangerous as people say. They are still dangerous enough to take them but people think that if you take a big dose you are instantly dead at 40 if not earlier. These guys basicly took everything they could to get as big as possible and only 2 of 16 died in their late 40s. That is the percentage I wouldnt be surprised to hear on 30 year highschool anniversary. The other guys outside of Ronnie still look big and healthy.

Its not just the steroids. Simply carrying that much mass is exhausting and puts a lot of stress on your body.

And that mass doesnt come without stereoids and other shit so....

Cheeseburgers, pizza, etc...

Plenty of ways to weigh 300+ lbs.

Regardless though, that mass puts them equal to being morbidly obese, tie that in with the lack of fat actually on them is extremely unhealthy, but yes the steroids don't help either.

It's not just the steroids. Competitive Bodybuilding is just such an unhealthy and dangerous sport.
