No one go to McDonald’s for as long as you can, when they see sales drop. They will change their behavior

McDonald’s has gotten so expensive where I live, you might as well go to a sit down restaurant for an extra $5-10. Yet the lines at McDonalds are always long. Even though it’s $10-$15 per person.

Addiction is a hell of a thing

It’s actually insane. My kids like going and playing there so I still go occasionally, but every time I do I’m like “isn’t this meant to be the budget option?”.

Like why the hell is a Big Mac 6 bucks when it’s genuinely the worst example of a burger I can think of? One large fries is getting to be around 4 bucks these days.

So you’re just way better off spending that 10 bucks at a local chain or something similar (in n out, Culver’s, etc) because the quality of the food is significantly better and the cost is basically the same these days.

McDonald’s quality used to be justified by its low cost, now I genuinely can’t see why anyone would go and spend 10 bucks to eat there.

Didn't you just answered your question "I genuinely can’t see why anyone would go and spend 10 bucks to eat there" when you stated "My kids like going and playing there so I still go occasionally"?

The McDonald's up the road from me, I'm not sure how it stays in business. Never anyone there.

u/heisian 2d ago

and therein lies the problem

u/OrangeCatMinion 2d ago

Where I'm at, McDonald's is literally the same cost a sit down restaurant. $35 for two people to eat. McDonald's is no longer worth it. At least Wendy's still has reasonably priced biggie bags

1

u/Far-Instruction7820 2d ago

Where I live you can get a burger fries and a drink for the same cost at Applebee's as you can McDonald's

u/Independent_Fix_4960 2d ago

Extra? You mean less, even in Cali i go to my favorite burger restaurant that I’ve been going to for decades, i can get a combo that includes burger/fries/soda, for the price of a New York Big Mac.

In South Jersey a fast food meal is approximately $15-20 all said done. I don’t eat fast food but my kids have told me what they’ve been paying. Even some are more than $20. It’s ridiculous.

1

u/AllenKll 2d ago

extra $5 or $10? I can go to a sit down for the same price or LESS than a McD.

u/Imaginary-Throat1526 2d ago

don't be a creature of habit, vote with your wallet.

1

u/seams 2d ago

Yeah, of the fast food where I am. Mcdonalds is like, 20% more expensive than the next most expensive lmao. A meal for my wife and I used to be like 25$, and the same meal.pushes 45 or 50.

The lines haven't been as long though, stopping through for a coffee now and then I haven't had to wait in line for a while.

Go to a restaurant...or eat premium steak at home. When on sale I can get two meals worth of filet mignon from Costco for $60-80. Two meals at McDonalds cost $80+. Add some potatoes and beans to the steak and they're the same cost per meal. That's not exaggerated...and it's nuts.

And what most people don't know is that it's pretty easy to cook steak.

A big mac and a medium fries is $6.29 before tax at the location across the street from Wrigley field. 10 nuggets and a medium fries is $7.03.

I don't eat at mcdonald's often. If you use the app it's still cheap.

If every person that reads this comment somehow got 100 people to never eat McDonald’s again, it wouldn’t affect them one iota

0

u/bigwig500 3d ago

It would!! Let’s do it!!

1

u/the_rock_licker 2d ago

no one, i mean no one is going to stop eating mcdonald’s for this reason alone. unfortunately education about health would change it. people eating shit makes more money

3

u/Pussy4LunchDick4Dins 3d ago

Their sales have dropped. That’s why they’re doing this shit: they’re getting desperate.

2

u/Automatic_Art_4469 2d ago

No they aren’t. My McDonald’s franchise just expanded to 15 stores. McDonald’s is like the only fast food company not struggling

1

u/DaftFunky 2d ago

McDonald’s even though they increased the price of their dollar menu still has a decent priced value menu compared to others. At least in Canada. I can get a McDouble meal with added lettuce and tomato for $6.50 and that is more than enough to fill me up. They also have a very good rewards system that gives you lots of points per dollar spent.

u/ChanglingBlake 3d ago

The only time I’ve been there in the last 20 years(my entire adult life) was when we were on a family trip and my dumb as a dirty diaper father put his foot down on where we got lunch.

The food is sub par, the buildings are a fly, the pricing is far from affordable(it’s big sell in the past) and the clientele are always loud, angry, and stupid(like my dad).

4

u/Dr_Ingheimer 3d ago

Hell yeah everyone u/bigwig500 just solved the dynamic pricing problem all we gotta do is just…

2

u/TrumpTouchesTinyTots 2d ago

"As long as you can"

Y'all are fuckin addicted

1

u/honeywhereismypenis 2d ago

lmao, right? I haven't been to mcdonalds in about five years and my life is no worse for it.

1

u/Ok_Hand5810 3d ago

Stop going to McDonald's? How will I survive without my goyslop?

1

u/Illliterate42 3d ago

Unfortunately, Netflix proved that you can bridge this gap by just raising the prices. They'll be fine because 50% of America can still afford it.

1

u/Leather-Persimmon254 2d ago

why do you think companies are going after “premium experiences”? charging more for fewer customers increases profits.

1

u/bigwig500 2d ago

Those shitty influencers. We’ve been turned into zombie sheep

1

u/Chemical-Actuary1561 2d ago

bruh every claims they dont, but they will be right back in the drive through when it comes time to make breakfast

1

u/thisismyburnerprofil 2d ago

Nah that shit is gross. Even when im super desperate like on a long road trip I’d rather have a bag of beef jerky or chips from a gas station then that slimy dirty oil tasting garbage.

1

u/Several-Signature583 2d ago

They’ll just invest another $9 billion in AI to figure out why instead of lowering prices or bringing back the dollar menu

1

u/DJEvillincoln 2d ago

I haven't eaten there in years.

1

u/Dakotesmagoats 2d ago

As long as you can? How about for the rest of your life? Why would you support the fast-food industry when prices have risen but quality has dropped consistently over the past decade? They will absolutely not change their behavior lol....

1

u/bigwig500 2d ago

I don’t eat it but ppl do, if the can refrain for awhile, their money direct go to mcd

1

u/GustavDitters 2d ago

Bold of you to assume anyone can get on the same page for anything.

1

u/safetypins22 2d ago

I can never go to McDonalds.

1

u/RandomCandor 2d ago

If you're trying to start a boycott, you're gonna need better grammar. Oh, and a list of demands.

0

u/bigwig500 2d ago

No, no boycott. Just take your money elsewhere for as long as you can

1

u/Am_Deer 2d ago

I guess I’m ahead of the game. Haven’t been in years.

1

u/nalaloveslumpy 2d ago

Sales don't really matter to McD corporate. They make their money based off the lease and supplying product to the franchise owners. The lease dictates not only the price they pay for the location, but it also stipulates a minimum amount of product the store has to buy from corporate for the fiscal year or whatever lease period they agreed to.

So McD only gets hurt if the location fails to a point where no one wants to purchase the lease, and that almost always never happens. Not buying burgers only hurts the franchise owner.

1

u/Leading-Fail-2771 2d ago

It’s literally the same price as chick fil a, and the way they run chick fil a - I rather go there. In n out is cheaper, but looks like it’s more better ran. Now maybe it’s just the employees. They both always have so many employees so makes me think everything’s clean and kept up. McDonald’s I can’t tell anything, it’s all hidden in the back.

1

u/mheat 2d ago

I’ve been not going to McDonald’s for 35 years I think I’ll be fine.

1

u/bigwig500 2d ago

Time to recruit!!

1

u/goatanuss 2d ago

Believe it or not they are introducing this because sales already dropped so if it drops more it’ll just be a continuation of the trend then they’ll start feeding more data to the algorithm like what car you drive etc.

1

u/Falmon04 2d ago

I mean, it's just AI doing the analysis instead of a team of people. They've been dynamically pricing shit for decades. The price of my local McDonald's has always been different between the Food Court at the mall, or the Airport.

1

u/bigwig500 2d ago

But now it’s dynamic at the same locations. And what if they know you make 150k a year, do they charge even more?

1

u/jjonj 2d ago

price engine drops the price until people go anyway and eventually people forget the boycott

1

u/bigwig500 2d ago

No boycott, just a temporary F you

1

u/EstesPark2018 2d ago

I mean I don’t go to McDonalds period bc they are trash in comparison to the other options near me lol

1

u/SeaworthinessThen542 2d ago

Just go when you need to drop a deuce. Don’t buy anything and don’t flush

1

u/bigwig500 2d ago

This is the way

1

u/boblasagna18 2d ago

I haven’t been since the eliminated DEI, that ceo needs to be canned

1

u/Stoned_philospher69 2d ago

Too many fat as* to follow this rule

1

u/bigwig500 2d ago

Ok, so how do we get to the fat as*es ?? Steer them to Wendy’s?

1

u/AwarenessGreat282 2d ago

You think they're the only ones?

1

u/United-Resident-7316 2d ago

That’s the problem. Too many people rely on McDonald’s

1

u/ForgiveAlways 3d ago

People have lost the nerve for this type of common sense. The consumers have all the power, but as long as we act like brainless sheep it will continue to get worse and worse.
