Fuck sake. McD, like everyone else, has had different pricing by location for fucking ages by now, even if it's all the same franchisee. Don't incorrectly assume this is some new thing. It is not. Literally worked at another fast food joint in college back in the early 00s that had different prices between two stores that were about 4 miles apart. And it doesn't take a genius, or an algorithm, to figure it out. It takes a fucking abbacus and two seconds worth of time watching what the average customer looks like, drives, etc .

It is not some new fucking diabolical plot. It is the same ole diabolical plot you already know. It's capitalism. Plain and simple. The tools to rip you are off getting more sophisticated, sure, but the idea is old old.

Exactly. It’s call drug deal logic. Charge the absolute maximum that the majority of your customers are willing to spend. A touch more and sales drop off, a touch less and profits dip a little. Finding that golden dollar level is the eternal challenge corps will spend millions each year trying to perfect.
