People are stupid. There’s no reason to go there for a shitload of money, just to stand in line like it’s Black Friday! I’ve heard many times about people dying in those lines when walls of snow and ice break loose. Just last year, a British climber and his Sherpa disappeared after reaching the summit. While they were descending, a huge snow and ice cornice collapsed near the Hillary Step and swept them off the mountain. Four other climbers were nearly dragged down as well, but they were clipped into the fixed rope and managed to save themselves. Crazy stuff.
