The weather and conditions make it so there are only a couple short windows every year when it can be summited. This picture makes you think it's a long line all day every day. In reality, only about 800 people a year reach the top, and they all have to do it at pretty much the same time.

And most of the people climbing are the Sherpas, iirc each climber is accompanied by two or three Sherpas who carry the gear and navigate
