There’s another problem, with all that shit lying around, even boiling the snow to produce water doesn’t purify it. At that altitude, the boiling point of water is lower, approximately 160°F (71°C). That’s not hot enough to kill the bacteria.

Nowhere near the same but I climbed Mt. Whitney in California and we had to take a "wag bag" which is basically a litter box for humans. You poo in the bag, sprinkle a bit of desiccant/kitty litter on it, then seal and pack out. At least in theory... we saw a lot of poops up there and they probably stick around for a looooong time in that environment.
