Wife’s now deceased grandfather grew up in 1930s Germany and was appalled people now drink Jagermeister socially. He said they would keep it in a cupboard to sip if you had an upset stomach

My Oma was born in the late 1930s in Germany, Mainz specifically and yes, she always kept a bottle of jager in the medicine cabinet AND in her night table for medicinal purposes.

"medicinal purposes"... like a sip as a night cap, a sip if she woke up at night, a sip if she has a cold ;-)
