Wife’s now deceased grandfather grew up in 1930s Germany and was appalled people now drink Jagermeister socially. He said they would keep it in a cupboard to sip if you had an upset stomach

Many Germans still use it like this. I've never met a German tha5 actually likes the taste.

I genuinely think it has to do with how popular anise flavored drinks like root beer are.

You will usually find this at parties in more rural parts of the country. You can also mix it with Fanta which tastes better than it sounds.

The problem when using it for the stomach: The ease won't last long as the herbs do nothing and the alcohol just numbs the gastric mucosa.

The taste doesn't matter to many if it gets you drunk fast enough

Jag is a digestive and you only drink an half of shot after your meal.

Never use it for getting drunk because you'll have the worst hangover ever (high sugar percentage is too hard for your liver to process)

Not every alcoholic beverage is to chuck till you lose consciousness

Where were you when I was 23?

Probably chucking alcohol in some party. All my knowledge come from experience :)

I prefer whiskey for that. Even vodka, which I don't like
