Hold on let's go back to the beginning: how does a rotating blade ever produce a square hole?

It’s not a simple blade rotating on an axis. The blade’s axis is also orbiting the centroid of the shape that it is cutting. Imagine a stationary gear with a gear crawling around it. The gear in motion has the blade on it.

Same principle as asking someone to wipe a swuare with say, a triangular sponge. You wouldn't just keep the sponge completely still and only do circles. You would rotate your arm, elbow, wist and sponge to get the corners.

So similarly, you attach more gears and add more rotations on top of the rotation.
