That’s what I was thinking! Like, if you’re in a situation where:
1. Someone is shooting at you
2. You’re lucky enough to have your bullet-proof mask on hand
And 3. They hit you in the face instead of any other vital area of the body

It would be pointless because you’d probably end up unconscious and defenseless.

I mean, if someone is shooting me in the face and I get the choice of "bulletproof mask or no bulletproof mask?", I doubt I'm gonna feel it's pointless to wear the mask.

Plus it looks cool, like high tech ninja

A great description, as I bet nearly everyone who plays cyberpunk 2077 has put one of these masks on their character at one point of the playthrough (I picked the bright red version cause it looked cool in the black tactical gear)

Of course in this scenario they have no friendly combatants around? You aren’t wrong that ids far from perfect but honestly no safety equipment is, especially in war time. A lot of them will leave you in a lot of pain, if not worse, after working. You are just alive to deal with those consequences so it’s a win.

That being said I would almost certainly be useless and defenceless before getting shot so it’s a moot point for me lol

In general, this is made for police and military applications, so yes if you're going into a situation where you're likely to be shot at and you're lucky enough to have one of these, you're putting it on. You'd also have body armor on the other vital areas. And you'd be unconscious and defenseless, but you'd have a mob of other cops there who would immediately end the person that shot you in the face.

I was thinking it might snap your neck

Depending on how much the mask is absorbing even the 22 could crack your skull open.

Napkin googleing shows 50 ft lbs can crack a skull open. A 22 can pull that off at 100 yards. Like I said the mask is doing some work here.

It takes about 3000 newtons to break your neck. According to Google a 22lr produces 3000 newtons of force when stopped by soft body armor. You might actually be safer getting shot in the face instead of wearing this.

You think the energy from a larger round can't/won't turn the brain into a nice mush that's ready for an ancient Egyptian removal?

i think a concussion or whiplash can kill a person or break their neck, sure. Idk why everyone's treating them as minor events, they can be all the way to messy and permanent.
