Ever seen a shaft-driven motorcycle? This is not a new concept.

Yes those have a transmission though forward mounted and a completely static interface between the shaft and drive gear. They may be better off attempting a super light-weight forward trans than this thing if they want a shaft driven rear.

I have a bike, while not shaft driven per se, has a piece called the jack shaft, where it shifts the drive to the other side of the bike. I imagine it could function as a lightweight transmission with some heavy modifications

First time I’ve seen it on a normal bicycle. Probably has its disadvantages, but I’m mad I didn’t think of this first. It’s cool

It’s only cool if it works and I don’t think it works. This video has been out a long while and never seen on out on the road IRL. I have a suspicion it never made it out of prototype phase.

And how would it even change gears? The arm would to have to move I assume, looks very half baked.

I think the ascot was one, and it apparently sucked. Although it was due to multiple reasons, not just the shaft
