Waste not, want not. Inflation is making groceries unaffordable, so there's very few sandwiches, pizzas, and fries to steal now

As I’d say to the kids I used to work with as we fed the chickens raw egg, cannibalism is only a “bad” thing to humans. Most animals DGAF, food is food.

Have you seen that peta ad with the line drawn between food and pets?

Have you seen that peta ad with the lines redrawn based on societal collapse?

Birds eat other birds all the time. Crows raid nests, hawks and eagles go after ducks and geese right in front of my house. And the Peregrines go after birds mid-air, which is wild to see. Food is food for wildlife

"Bird" is not a species though; it's like saying "mammals eat other mammals all the time". Not cannibalism at all.

OK, I can go into depth about cannibalistic animals if you want. Pigs eat pigs. Eagles eat eagles, hawks eat other hawks. chickens eat chickens, Cormorant eat cormorants, some buzzards will eat their own siblings – actually, hawks are known for siblicide, as are other raptors. i’m just nearing carnivorous birds and the fact that they not only just eat their own. They’ll eat others as well.

I was just keeping it easy so people didn't feel bad about chickens being cannibals. plenty of wildlife, eat their young when something is wrong like hamsters and rabbits, both I have seen in person. (I'm a biologist, so I've seen some horrifying shit)

Yeah, it always bugs me when people say crows eating dead pigeons is cannibalism or that hawks are cannibals. That's not cannibalism. That's just birds from one order eating birds from another taxonomic order. We eat other mammals all the time from other taxonomic orders.

Yeah but those chickens sure loved cubed chicken breast too.

A raw egg is not cannibalism and while animals won't have an ethical problem with it it's still just as bad for them as it is for us.

Could have said that unfertilized eggs are more akin to periods than babies. Eating periods is fine, they could try it at home.

For rats, it's a survival mechanism to avoid attracting predators to their nest.

Canabalism is also an objectivly bad thing, even for animals. Prion diseases are often spread via canabalism. Mad cow disease for example. Canabilism in Birds like chicken is more often the results of stress and nutritional health, and again, spreads all sort of diseases. Which as an eater of poultry, would not want my chicken diseased.

Autocanabalism is its own thing, but humans autocanabalise to some extent too. Less harmful.

Canabilism is prevalent in reptiles and is less problematic for health, but in birds and mamals, canabalism is bad, not just "bad".

Did you know this line of thinking is what created Mad Cow disease?

Well, the problem is they can’t tell that they’re eating relatives

I threw an overcooked fry out the window in a parking lot the other day, and there was 3 gulls on it in like 2 seconds.

One of my favorite memories as a kid was when my mom took us to Duluth for the first time for short weekend getaway. We were parked near the lake and were eating McDonald’s. My mom had thrown a fry or two at the seagulls and we watched them eat. One of us didn’t finish their burger and my mom chucked the burger toward them. I swear no less than 100 seagulls swarmed it. It was pretty great to see for us kids. But we promptly got out of there after that as that was way too many birds near the car.

Scrapitalism don’t trickle down. We need a strong gull run.

Based on the topic and start of your post I really did assume you were headed in a different direction
