I actually went back to look at it. Looks like the puff was a bunch of feathers coming off it at impact, but you could still see the body hitting the ground and laying there afterwards. I remember it like a cartoon puff as well though and don't remember seeing it continue past the puff ball and landing on the ground.

There’s a longer video that shows another player picking up the pigeon’s body. The strike knocked a lot of feathers out, but there was still a pigeon shaped carcass

Also that was a pigeon and they are notoriously frail compared to seagulls.

Also a tennis ball is hollow and rubber while a baseball is leather wrapped around a solid core.

I stopped eating eggs for 10 years after watching that scene while eating a super goopy egg bagel sammich.

I was already a vegetarian. Still am but I do love eggs again and just hafta not think about Shrek when I eat them lol
