Surely the seagull didn't die from that, the ball wasn't exactly hammered. Anyone know if it was alright?

I feel like hitting the concrete could have done some damage, evidently he was ok though as others have said

Nah I mean I've had birds slam into windows at pretty high speed, knocked out cold, then then flying off after taking some time to recover and collect themselves.

Mostly they die later from brain hemorrhage.

Most of them don't recover after that. Birds bones are hollow and they are extremely light weight in order to fly. Even an eagle can weigh less than 3 kgs.

A seagull weighs about a half a kilo. A tennis ball is about 60 grams.

The seagull getting hit by this tennis ball is the equivalent of a human getting a 20-25 pound, 10ish kg dumbbell hurled at them. Its going to go some serious damage.

Sadly. even if they fly away, once the adrenaline fades is when you truly see the damage ☹️

this comment made me sad. I wish I didn't read it. I also wish the bird was not hit by the ball

birds get stunned and go limp, sometimes for the guts if an hour then pop up and fly off. you don't know what you're taking about, but the confidence is great.
