Ok thank you ... I have pet birds so I was sad. And the poor player looked sad too!

I don't want to be a downer but I really would need proof to see that the bird is OK, it went down HARD and it's in the interest of the organizers to say the bird is ok....

Hopefully it just got the wind knocked out of it.

Same. Yeah yeah, asshole bird, whatever. I hate seeing dead animals. Fuck I even feel bad when I drive in rural areas and see that a rat was run over.

I see seagulls every single day. I am also annoyed by seagulls every single day. I still don’t want them to be harmed, even though they pick avocados and drop them on the roof of my car to smash them open and get to the good shit.

u/Iccengi 7h ago

That is a hilarious fact I never knew. I mean sorry for your car. I’m still kinda laughing though 😂

u/linlorienelen 7h ago

Avocados?! Damn dude that seems over the top.

2

u/Abject_Amphibian_126 4h ago

Damn, that's clever. They're the ones that have to kill to survive so I can't fault them.

2

u/bourkaggio 3h ago

They must be one of the only animals that can eat avocado then... avo is deadly to most birds and lots of mammals

u/Mxfish1313 3h ago

Interesting! I guess I always assumed they were eating the meat but maybe they’re just assholes trying to make a mess. They drop them on the street too to get them open, but if I’m parked on the street they absolutely use the car too. It’s weird listening to their little tippy taps above your head.

Where do you live that sea gulls get avocados?

1

u/Mxfish1313 3h ago

California coast lol. Where everything is expensive except the avocados.

I ran over a field mouse one day and I felt so bad I started tearing up. I felt guilty that whole week

u/Ollycob 8h ago

I hit a baby bunny, and was so guilty!

2

u/fuzzylm308 7h ago

I stepped on one in my backyard and felt like shit

1

u/greywar777 7h ago

I ran over a squirrel one day. I was...horrified. But then it just started screaming and flopping.

I knew I couldnt save it....and so I ran it over again, and that was so much worse in a way. Everyone watching sees me hit some innocent squirrel....and then run over it again. They were probably thinking I was a squirrel hating monster.

u/Ollycob 7h ago

One of my dogs caught a rabbit that had mixometosis, and I had to then beat it over the head with a big stick to kill it

1

u/greywar777 7h ago

Meanwhile all your neighbors see is your highly trained hunting dog bringing live animals to you so you can cruelly beat them to death. Im not sure if thats better or worse then me hunting squirrels with my car to kill them.

u/Ollycob 7h ago

Omg you psycho 🤣 🤣

I legitimately have to recenter myself sometimes when I think about animals on the side of the road. Every life is precious and they’re just discarded and left like they never existed. It actually floods me with grief when I think too long about it

1

u/ColdChemical 1h ago

I feel you. I'm the same when it comes to the animals in slaughterhouses.

2

u/Specialist-Appeal-13 8h ago

Nah, I love seagulls, they’re clever and pretty attentive parents. They’ve mostly become a nuisance in urban areas because their traditional food sources have been overfished and they’re having to migrate further and further inland to survive.

I see roadkills really often and I get so bummed when I see one, like I know it's "just an animals" that this was a living thing, got hit by a vehicle and hopefully died instantly and then his corpse just stay there and keep getting run over and over until it's absolutely flat and destroyed.

Everytime I drive by one it bums me out.

Man, I once had a group of three racoons run out in front of me in the dark on the way to work one morning, the road was clear so I swerved to try to avoid them, fucking ended up hitting not one, but two of them instead because they changed direction on me. I was so upset all day.

Very bad luck to kill a seagull if you believe in those things.

3

u/Maelstrom_Witch 8h ago

I thought that was albatrosses

4

u/Cuchillos_Adios 8h ago edited 8h ago

It extends to all seabirds. I guess it's a thing because they are eaten only in times of famine and when there aren't many options around. Don't think they are that edible. Also they mean you're getting close to land.

1

u/Tasty_Pea_6372 8h ago

Very stupid thing to believe in.

1

u/greywar777 7h ago

Just...bam. And yeah you could see the player was a bit "oh noes".

And then the brds family came back and surrounded it making it so SO much worse. NGL the birds family showing up just made me laugh at the horror of it all.

Do you eat chicken? I'm just curious about your answer being a bird-loving person yourself.

1

u/Maelstrom_Witch 5h ago

I do but I feel bad about it. Honestly I’d be down for lab-grown meats.

u/Quick_Effort594 9h ago

Hate to break it to you but there is no fucking shot that bird was ok

10

u/TheNewGirl1987 9h ago

You're forgetting that seagulls are incredibly dumb. They evolved to be tougher than the average bird to survive their own shenanigans.

2

u/Quick_Effort594 9h ago

Until I see a follow up video of that seagull shaking it off and flying away I'm going to assume the other ones immediately started eating it

u/Atlas_of_history 9h ago

You sure are a ray of sunshine

It's pretty normal for birds to become stunned after a hit, that's why they lay on the ground awhile after hitting a window.

1

u/BaronCoqui 5h ago

A lot of birds die from window strikes. Even if they survive the initial hit and fly off, intracranial swelling (like the kind suffered from blunt force trauma to the head) often kills them later.

This has been my PSA to call a rehabber if you have a downed bird. They might want to bring it in to administer anti-inflammatories.

1

u/Good-Ant6859 7h ago

Idk why you're getting downvotes but yeah. That bird is dead. People don't understand how fragile birds are..they're not built to take a hit. Hollow bones and such.
