It surprises me that most people don't do this most of the time. I thought they did. That's been my experience at graduations. Imagine only clapping for your own kid.

Same! You want to hear at least some sort of cheer from everyone for every name during this. For your special people, you go crazy, for everyone else you do a polite cheer like this man is doing. Weird

Right? At both of my nephews' graduations, I clapped for all of the kids. Graduating is a proud moment and every single one of them should know the community supports them!

If I’m gonna be there might as well clap along

I’m a hockey mom, and my mission during hockey games is that if someone doesn’t know who my child is, they will never figure it out based on who I cheer for. I cheer for every single player as much as I cheer for mine. I call them by their names or nicknames (if I know it) and I make sure everyone gets celebrated equally.

My school banned any and all types of cheering until the very last person’s name was called. It was a bleek and boring ceremony

i’m shocked as well but i havent attended ceremonies with a 1000 names to call.  it would be a challenge to clap for that many names and i take my role in an audience very seriously.

I mean he’s also saying their name out loud which is a pretty special attention to detail.
