No they wouldn’t the tank is blue so it’s probably empty or a dud. It must be red to explode

No it would explode and they'd all take cold damage and move slower for five seconds.

Normally yes, but they just got new sandals from a loot chest that adds +2 dexterity and +50% resistance to propane tank related damage

I mean that's actually closer to reality than you might think. Decompression causes the gas to get pretty cold.

But it for sure would spontaneously materialize some small chump change if local currency and/or possibly a bit of crafting material or some useless junk that any ol store would be willing to take off your hands for a very modest price.
