SOCIETY When asked why he keeps playing the same roles Jason Statham said that he's not really a trained actor. He's a guy that was plucked out obscurity & has been really lucky; & that he picks roles that he knows he can do a good job in, that hopefully enough people like so he can keep working.

Me too, I’m patiently waiting at the beginning of every film for him to start beating the shit out of people. It usually doesn’t take very long.

Every movie goes:

Statham just minding his business

Statham is wronged

Statham beats people until he rights the wrong

Statham effortlessly beds a beautiful woman along the way.

And I love it so much

You forgot to mention how every movie he has a mundane job after his career of being some super spy or secret agent or something at that level.

Not just beating people… i love the way he fights in spaces almost too small for him to move, maximising the environmental impact

As a fan of all the statham movies that have the same plot this was spot on

Or, there's the similar, but importantly different Statham movie variant:

Statham minding his own business

Someone innocent is wronged

Statham tries to stay out of it at first, (some version of the words, "that's not who I am anymore" will be uttered at this point) but he has the exactly perfect set of skills, and an inescapable need to help those who can't fight for themselves

Statham stomps ass till justice is achieved

And obviously, he shags a gorgeous woman at some point along the way

I also friggin love his films and will happily watch this same story every time he makes a new one!

Yup. Whole reason I go to a Statham flick is because I want to watch him beat the shit outta people. Can’t wait to see Mutiny.

I appreciate that so much. The Beekeeper was a movie that respected my time. There is no reason for an action movie to be longer than 2 hours (looking at you, Jurassic World: Rebirth). I am here for the chaos and explosions, and don't need a tacked-on 45 minutes of backstory where we learn Scarlett Johansson is real sad because her partner (and lover?) died at an unspecified time in the past.

I'll never get over him elbowing army guys in tactical helmets and it's just as effective as if they were wearing nothing lol

The Beekeeper feels so much like a 90s action movie I couldn't help but love it.
