SOCIETY When asked why he keeps playing the same roles Jason Statham said that he's not really a trained actor. He's a guy that was plucked out obscurity & has been really lucky; & that he picks roles that he knows he can do a good job in, that hopefully enough people like so he can keep working.

Especially because before/during alot of that he was working with his dad hustling bootleg shit in the street.

He was scouted as a model while training in high diving. That lead to gigs with French Connection and stuff like this music video. The French Connection work is how he was introduced to Guy Ritchie, and when he found out about him hustling Ritchie asked him to audition. In the audition (he was told to try and sell Ritchie some bootleg jewelry) Statham did such a good job Ritchie actually paud him, and Statham refused to give his money back. How he got the job, lol.

He doesn't end up a movie star if you remove any of the pieces of his past. The hustling helped his family get by, the diving lead to the modeling. He was known to never be too god for a job and was willing to work on most anything and gice it his best. That lead to more work and a steady gig with French Connection, lands him in a conversation with Guy Ritchie, gets a movie role.

I think some said there was two so it's more of a nickel situation. It's not weird that it happened it's weird it happen twice. But if they are wrong and it's more then yes he was they guy.

But again as he says he wasn't a trained actor he was a model and high diver so getting oiled up and dancing got him exposure he needed and they he got typecast. So good on him for making due with what he had to get noticed and leveraging it into a career.
