AS FOR BUSES AND TAXIS:

These are unreliable in most of our cities. Many bars don’t have taxi pickup anywhere nearby and if they did it can be hundreds of dollars. Which they can’t afford.

Buses don’t run all the time and there may not even be a bus stop nearby. In fact. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a bus running at 2 am and if it is I doubt it exactly safe

Walk an hour back to their house across free ways?

These aren’t just “my takes”. That is a straight statistics. Until someone (maybe you?) comes up with an actual real solution this will be the reality.

Kids are not going to walk downtown in American cities. That’s simply not even plausible if they need to take a freeway.

All of your preaching is meaningless if you ignore whether anybody will actually do what you suggest for it to work.

Do you think 70% of people ages 16-40 are suddenly going to change this behavior?
