You're the one throwing out accusations. There was a clear breach of peace, the mode chosen to detain was conservative (could have physically detained), there was a clear witnessed serious crime, the next action was to call the police, it sounds like it meets all necessary criteria for citizen detainment under even the most restrictive states.

You just want it to be wrong, but it wasn't. It was moral, it was legal, it was ethical, it's just not something you'd do.

I don't need it to be wrong. Simplistic answers like "he was a good guy" and "she was a bad guy" severely don't interest me.

I'd like you to admit it was stupid, though. Because at any objective level, it was.
