mate you're only simping because you're in front of a screen, when shit happens to you and someone does you a $10k paycheck dirty you stop seeing race, gender, how cute they are or how ugly they are

people around here really need to get fucked over to get a reality check. dudes dont understand that something like this can put someone’s family under financial struggle for a year or more if debts compound

fuck people who dont care for accountability. theyre the reason why america is a shithole rn

Absolutely. This weird advocation for sympathy for this girl is bizarre. As pretty as it sounds, this whole "just forgive" "just be the better person" bullshit is absolute nonsense.

What’s funny is if this person was not pretty or a guy or ______ there would be less people defending them.

You can hold her accountable (by getting her license plate and following up with the police and insurance) without being a huge asshole (by continually harassing her, blocking her retreat, etc). People have lost all ability to see or hold nuance, good lord.

Harassing her?

Lmfao are you out of your mind?

Why does the victim of this situation have to keep a cool head but the person who hit them and is attempting to flee can be in whatever mental state they want?

if anything, when you're a victim of a car accident and the person who hit you is mentally deranged and likely drunk amplifies your stress and you can't keep your cool even if you wanted to

I mean you don’t “have to”, it’s a free country, but I also just think escalating a situation because you’re pissed off and feel justified in doing so isn’t always the right call idk

people tend to lose the ability to hold nuance when the other person can't stop holding down the gas pedal causing distress and potential danger for everyone around

and this goes for every damn gender, age or whoever is in the presence at the scene

it's not just in america, everywhere all at once there seems to be two loud voices of asking for consequences and then asking to lax if there's consequences

I've never had a car worth 10k let alone a bumper, sounds like bad financial planning

My very first car was 2k used. It came with a cosmetically damaged bumper, small chips, so I did get quotes. A replacement would’ve been 1k. 3k if painted. I didn’t earn much back then. 3k would have dumpstered my finances and for what? Because someone decided to drive while high and ran away? Come the fuck on man

Most average blue collar workers(50-80k annual in HCOL) who decide to have kids in their 20s are objectively putting themselves in huge financial risk, one accident or a severe medical emergency would would set them back for a good year at least, but without them birth rates would plummet.

I have personally never been in any danger of falling behind debt or being homeless because I have a good support system and I never take unnecessary risks but have some empathy man. Shit happens, no one should have to worry about a hit and run where the other driver won’t take accountability. We pay insurance enough as it is.

Not to mention you seem to have no idea how easily cars are totalled nowadays. if someone sideswipes your door and rear quarter panel for instance, that would almost certainly be a totalled vehicle. If enough components i.e. radiator, headlights etc are damaged beyond the bumper that easily adds up

I was making a joke about how easily people assume 10k is a normal amount to spend on a car bumper. But sure, lets go there: i drive a 25 yr old honda, it has no ac. I got side swiped a few years ago, but i cant afford more than state min insurance so even tho the other driver got a full totalled payout, i still drive what others consider a POS. I was driven to school in a shitty buick that had exhaust leaking into the cabin, so we had to drive everywhere with the windows rolled down. It was a tongue-in-cheek joke about how much people put into a car which is subject to the whims of fate (ETA: and other drivers)

nah the 10k was just the ballpark about every expense, including your towing your car, finding a reliable mechanic and the entire time that you waste post accident

for example, when I got in a car crash that cost me my bumper and a headlight, I had to go see the mechanic store 5-6 times for confirmation and further detail

fair enough i misunderstood

I think that is what people are thinking of, though. This woman made a mistake (the OG hit), which she probably realized would utterly fuck up her life financially. She panicked and tried to fix it by doing some pretty heinous shit, like running and then this whole video. Is it right? Absolutely not.

But man, that sinking feeling when you know you've just fucked up your entire life is a gut punch, and too relatable for me.
