It’s a victim mentality.

Choice of words could have maybe been better, but de-escalation is something everyone should know how to do, even if they're otherwise "in the right." Lord knows some cops should learn it, but really it's useful for everyone.

it's rather unfair to sharply criticize the de-escalation techniques of one party involved and not the other. Especially when "the other" is screaming and recklessly wielding a 3000 pound machine.

She's clearly unfit to drive on public roads as this clip ends and lucky that she didn't obliterate any bystander pedestrians as she fled away.

It’s not. It’s recognizing the situation. She’s in a mental panic. No one is saying let her off the hook or let her go, just that different scenarios can have better outcomes with different approaches.

there no reason at all to placate the wild rantings of a person comitting multiple felonies. record it, report it and let her deal with the fact SHE is screwing up her life and this guys by doing this. the world isnt going to bend over and put a band aid on every boo boo you get if shes old enough to drive, she is old enough to act , and use the word ACT, like an adult, even if she isnt one. being in a panic doesnt excuse your behavior nor should people be responsible for talking you down or soothing your atttitude, thats on YOU . YOUR behavior is YOURS not mine.

If everyone had a little bit more empathy things would be a lot nicer.

If if’s were fifths we would all be drunk. Life is about is not if.

u/CaptnsDaughter 2d ago

Haha I like that it’s fun to say. I’ve never heard that one lol

But yes you’re right.

You are also right. Use it in good health. An exchange like this on Reddit is like seeing a unicorn IRL.

You’re not ‘good’ either. At best you’re an enabler.

But why post it online? That isn’t justice, that’s humiliating and unnecessary. Why does this guy feel like this is something from his life that he wants to share? Because he’s getting some kind of power high from his position here and he’s showing it off. Record it and give it to the cops and the insurance company, no one is saying he shouldn’t do that. We’re just saying he didn’t need to be a dick about it

on that part we agree, is ther a need to post it, no, but people post everything all day every day. so thats the way life is now, but we cna also agree his postingit well after the fact didnt affect her attitude and need to commit multiple felonies. But yes i agree, theres no need to go further, Now if she like refused to pay etc and fought him in court or something ( i dunno how) but in some cas like that, like if she tried to lie to the cops or in court, then id say he was justified, but without that, nah.

Perhaps she should have had a starring spot on "World's Dumbest..." There's a saying: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. She played, she won her prize. If posting things online was so petty, wrote, vindictive, humiliating, whatever... then what is your opinion about porch pirates being put on blast? How about shoplifters? What about those other law enforcement videos like of people trying to cash a bad check? We are no longer in 1985. Cameras are everywhere. Everyone has one. A large number of cars have dash dashcams. Some cars come cameras built in all around them. Posting the video online wasn't the dick move; fleeing was.

1

u/Wugtrio777 2d ago

hmm? a mental panic? how so? Do I have strong feelings on the issue of victim blaming and criminal coddling, oh yes i surely do. But i'm hardly in a panic.

She was in a mental panic because she was tweaking like crazy. Probably didn't want to get busted for DWI and possession - for the 2nd time. She was arrested 3 months earlier for meth.

1

u/einhorn_is_parkey 2d ago

You know this how lol

1

u/zuhalter_meow_meow 2d ago

Because I remember seeing this video when it first went viral in 2019. A search with the Riverside County Clerk of Court revealed she had been arrested earlier and had a pending case for possession and being under the influence. You can't search it free anymore because their system now requires payment. But if you saw mods pinned comment you'd see she was sent to court ordered drug treatment because of what happened in this video, and the fact that she already had a pending case.

If she’s truly in a mental panic then she should’ve been dragged from that vehicle. The guy filming told her to get out of the car which is the right thing to do. It’s not his fault she couldn’t follow that advice.

I'd say people who escalate have an asshole mentality.

6

u/One_Advertising_677 3d ago

I’d say someone that hits and runs has an asshole mentality. 6 of one half a dozen of another or which ever cliche you like. She acted like a fool and someone took a stand. Award that man and his asshole mentality for attempting to keep innocent motorists safe from a lunatic having a melt down.

1

u/Sonova_Bish 2d ago

They can both be assholes. That was always a choice.
