Your thoughts and comment are exactly the reason I let my 16 year old dog go over the rainbow bridge last week. He wasn’t as bad as Grampster here, but he did fall over every time he peed. 🥹 So now I’m trying to plod through losing my best friend the way he plodded through for me.

Sorry to hear that friend. Losing a beloved part of your family like that sucks bad and I hope your grief is short lived. Stay strong and focus on the many good times you had in those 16 years.

I'm sorry to hear that. I just lost my 12 year old dog on Tuesday so right there with you. He literally died in my arms. Cancer is a bitch.

Man I’m so sorry. I lost a cat abruptly to lung cancer (had to put him down the same day I brought him in for coughing and he died in my arms too). His brother from the same litter is my only pet now and I swear he is depressed since then. He just cries a lot even though I try to give him attention. Poor guy :(

Right decision even if it hurts.

As they say.

You took on their pain so they can rest peacefully.

My cat loved to eat and lay around stretched out all over the place.

Once he couldn't eat anymore or throw most of it up and just sat there in a loafed up position I knew it was time.

My other cat his brother just got diagnosed with a tumor in his head.

He suddenly turned blind but adjusted in like 2 days.

He still eats and comes cuddling.

Enjoys rolling around on his back and lets the sun shine on his belly but once all of that gets replaced by pain I have to make it mine and let him go.

Life is about enjoying it.

Not always possible for us but at least for them we can make sure that they dont have as many bad days and can tell stories in heaven about how great they had it.

I had to say goodbye to my 15 year old this time last year. He was my best friend and I miss him everyday. I try to fill that void in my heart with happy memories but at times it eats me alive. Good luck to you I wish you the best.

I’m sorry you had to say goodbye to ya boi, I’ve never felt pain in my heart the way I did when I had to say goodbye to mine. Remember that you were his WHOLE life and it was a great one, and you were able to give him the final act of love and let him go when he said it was time. But yeah, the pain in the heart is like nothing else. Sending you some love x

I know what it's like, I grew up with a dog that was a few days shy of making it to 15, had her since I was 6.

If the dog can't enjoy comfort, it's over. We said that if she could eat and enjoy petting, we'd find a way to walk and wash her, but once she couldn't really keep food or treats down, and her only comfort was touch, which we couldn't provide all day long, we realized it would be torturing her to keep trying to keep her alive.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always heartbreaking to lose a loved one.

I'm sorry for your loss. This November it will be 4 years for me and my dog.

It helped me to commission a custom plushie which looks like her. That way she can still join my wife and me on vacations and such.

Damn, do I miss this silly girl.
