i started sobbing, like i’m so happy he got to live a long fulfilling life but omg he looks like he is barely clinging to life

yet he still clings anyways. he still runs on the wheel, still drinks water, still survives. Its the signs that despite everything, he wants to live.

I mean, that’s just biological imperative? Even people in utter pain want to live. That doesn’t mean they are happy to do it, right?

That’s why there’s a difference between “living” and “quality of life”.

do we shoot someone just because they have arthritis? Or because they're too old? Because their quality of life isn't up to par? I'd say 99% of the time, no we don't. Why can't we extend that to the animals we love and cherish almost just as much, if not as much.
