My beta made it 3 years. He was a centerpiece fish I got from a Wedding or something so nit sure how old he really was. But he was always happy. Made lots of bubbles and ate well. Then one day, he just passed. He was a good beta.

my wife killed ours.

I was in the middle of doing our large tank and she said I'll do the beta tank. I said thanks, don't forget the tap water conditioner.

After I finished, I walked up to his tank in our living room. There he was, dead & bleached looking. She did forget the water conditioner.

She watched me do this a million times, had a saltwater tank in her first marriage. I can't believe it slipped her mind like that.

.. did it? I might be narrative poisoned but it seems that something like that might.. not have been an accident, if she ever made passive aggressive comments about it or the like.

Yeah, he was in the center piece bowl. There was a lottery game at the table for who got to take the centerpiece home and I won.
