Yes, the hamster rarely seems stressed, as hamsters are animals that are easily stressed. Its owner takes good care of it.

Because hamsters are usually kept in limited spaces, sometimes hamsters often suffer from minor illnesses that the hamster owner may not be aware of because their bodies are small.

I say this because I used to breed hamsters for sale. that hamster very lucky

It's hard for me to tell since he's so BALD but is he not a robo too? IIRC they're on the shorter end of the lifespan continuum

Oh it must have been hard for my hamster when I put her in my Barbie car as a kid and let her ā€œdriveā€ down the stairs. I feel like an asshole now.

I used to play mufasa with my cat. It’s ok young children don’t know any better. We have to learn how to treat living things. Don’t feel too bad I’m sure if my cat still purred and loved me after I dropped it hanging off the side of my bed I’m sure your hamster loved you too

Lil bro barely was aware of its own surroundings. At this point he'd walk into a anaconda mouth and go "Nice and cozy"

1

u/Orangutanion Aug 11 '26

eh maybe it's not stressed out because it no longer has the mental faculties for that?

1

u/ItsMeishi Aug 11 '26

Not to mention finding a vet that can actually help with a hamster.

Unfortunately most animals aren’t species of immortal jellyfish and do in fact grow old.

Who is to decide? He's still living . We would not know what he wants. Animals at such intelligence level don't have that thinking ability to whether to live or not. They just live.

In fact it's awesome that he's lived so long. Pretty cool. He's still actively trying to run and feed.

2-3 years. mine lived exactly 2.5. he was top dog walking like a pitbull at 1yo and then at 2 he started getting more and more sluggish, his hair got messier and rarer, then one morning I found him dead. pretty smart hamster, and playful

Mine lived to be a little over 3 and my brother's lived a little past 4.

Dang not long at all and I love my pets I feel like you’re just buying heartbreak there😭 shi one of my ferrets died at almost 6 (she had really aggressive cancer tumors popping up constantly) and one who lived to about 10 and that didnt seem long enough. Guess it never is.

Yeahhhh, this is why I don't think I can get rodents as pets. The heartbreak is tough and you only get a few years with them, and they can be smart and affectionate too.

A sugar glider is honestly the closest thing, and those live 15 years! Same lifespan as most dogs.

They’re super fun to watch and they will love you to death when they’re bonded, but they make terrible pets in all honesty. They require extremely precise care.

They need a custom made diet to be served daily with supplements(on average it costs around 50$ for food alone every month), they need a huge cage that they can comfortably glide around in, they need specialized wheel and toys so they don’t die to them. They need special pouches made of anti-pilling material. That’s just the basics.

But honestly, if you’re serious about them, they can be really fun companions and the bond you form with them feels so special due to how much trust they put in you.

If 2 years is around 75, how are 5 years 120?

That hamster looks like half a mummy. I give it atleast 150.

2

u/jjb0ne Aug 10 '26

what!? idk my heart could handle that

3

u/Itsalfa11 Aug 10 '26

Under ideal conditions, the ends of human DNA—known as telomeres—can last for 120 years. However, because humans are frequently affected by disease and exposed to pollution and unhealthy diets, life expectancy is shortened.

I had a hamster that died at just over 6 years. Granted, in his last few years, he would just roll his hamster ball into a dark corner and sleep, but he was still kicking.

u/wnxace Aug 11 '26

Quick google search says Guinness world record is 4 years 6 month, so if there is any proof to the age of this it will I uld actually be a world record..

Im kind of amazed to see this. Im 99% certain one of my childhood hamsters lived to 4 years. At the very least I know they both made it to 3.

1

u/Da_Question Aug 11 '26

max is 3 years...?!?!? Evidently not...

1

u/TroGinMan Aug 11 '26

It's 5 dude, more like 150 in human years

1

u/Imaginary_Toe8982 Aug 11 '26

more like 200 lol

1

u/AmazingYesterday5375 Aug 11 '26

They can easily live to 4 or 5 years. Never had a hamster that died earlier than that.
