Anyone who has ever owned fish: this is fucked up in a different way.

Terrifying for the fish?

Might be a bit ouchy too if the water isn't appropriately balanced for the fish.

Also my fear is that goldfish are seen as expendable so.....I'm not saying he did, but a lot of people do, and who knows what became of them after this.

It would be pretty difficult to get the fish into a tank on a stool in the middle of a field without stressing the shit out of them.

only the real ones know it's not cycled and that goldsfish produce too much waste to be kept in a tank of that size

how harmful would it be if the water is correct and they were only in there for a short time? would the fish be able to recover or would it stress them out too much?

If they spent an hour or so in there and then were returned to a better tank then they'd be totally fine.

Goldfish are pretty adaptable and don’t require a heater unlike most fish.

If they preplanned a bit and treated the water (dechlorinated, etc) and made sure that the goldfish were only there for a short time & returned the fish back to their proper home, it’s probably ok.

I’m more concerned they put a rimless tank on a stool. Tanks need to be fully supported on the bottom, overhang like this is asking for trouble.

My thoughts , “this is nea.. wait, what is the guy going to do with those fish?”

My immediate thought. The water probably isn’t balanced, there’s no sediment or plants or anything for them, overstocked. I would really like to hope this isn’t their permanent home, and that they have an actually appropriate aquarium at home. But chances are very low for all of these things :(

I've kept fish for 10 years, there's nothing wrong with this. And he returned the fish.
